Going to give this a try tomorrow in some fun games. No thrusters, no stealth. But some offense for soontir (what I think he is missing). Might be total trash.

Has anyone tried it?

Nvm, targeting computer adds to the bar, the whole idea is trash.

Sorry.

I've had some fun with a Rage Soontir combined with an inspiring recruit Stridan nearby.

Offensive rerolls + 3 focus tokens + action of choice after maneuver (if you coordinated the rage). Can run it lean at 31 points for Fel and 37 points for a basic functional support Stridan (IR, PA, FCS), leaving 30ish points leftover for another Ace plus init bid.

Putting Targeting Computer on standard Soontir in place of the Stealth Device does work too.

Wired is an odd upgrade card. I like it only on ships where you will be taking actions other than focus and target lock, plus you have a source for stress other than red moves. A Wired/PTL A-Wing which boosts and evades, for example. Using Experimental Interface and something like Lando or Gonk is pretty cool, but only if you have other actions, like Evade or Barrel Roll. Wired also goes up in value if you're making multiple attacks in a turn (Dengar, TLTs). However, a Wired/Gonk/Experimental Interface costs 6 points, the same as Predator/Recon Specialist, which is probably stronger and doesn't lock you into Green moves.

With Soontir, your stress gives you a Focus, so Wired is at least somewhat redundant. Even if the Targeting Computer trick worked, you'd be getting offensive rerolls, which aren't as valuable since you have Wired rerolls, a focus token (again, weakened due to Wired), and you'd have no Autothrusters. I don't think the game has printed a worthwhile source for Stress for Soontir other than Push the Limit. It's boring, since that's what everyone uses, but the build (PTL + Autothrusters + [modification to taste]) is popular for a reason.
