Delayed?

By Wetaas, in Star Wars: Armada

So our next wave is supposed to be available in fourth quarter 2017.

But yet it is still in development. The time limit to manage this year I will say is up. We all know how long time the shipping takes from China. So it is fair to say we are not seeing this release to Christmas. More likely in 2018.

I think the production of Legion and the need for more play testing of the new ships to not screw with the balance of the game is the cause of this.

It gets harder every time new ships are released to make sure the balance of the game is kept.

I'm not super optimistic about hitting the Q4 target either. That said , it has happened before that they've failed to update that page for extended periods, so I wouldn't put too much weight on the status there just yet.

Definitely agree it's not looking good, though. Between the status page, the complete silence since the initial announcement article, and the fact that the MC75 was far enough from set that we didn't even get a look at the freaking ship card for it in the announcement... It's looking a whole lot like a single-expansion year for us this year. Swell.

Is there a even a lead designer for Armada any more to take it beyond 'In Development'?

Ive been following other games that had their initial announcements after the Thrawn article, those games are 'On the boat' or 'in store now'

Fwiw, it's at the printer on the Spanish page. Plus they got the MC75 article, so many they took over Armada?!

They didn't have an MC-75 article, they just posted the spread on its product page.

But yes, the Spanish site has the wave where we'd expect it to be. I think they just forgot to update the upcoming page.

My mistake, you are technically correct!

Well French website have it listed as « en production » which is supposed to be the same as « at the printer »

expected Q4.

Unfortunately the K-wing reprint as the same status while it is « in store » on the English website ..

Only good news is the reprint of the firespray which goes in store on December 1.

I d love to have the chimaera out by Christmas .. it s on top of my whishlist !

for this game, im very ok with delays if it actually means better balance. I still think Armada is better balanced than Xwing. (If only due to scale and learning from the same game model.)

The parts of the game that are poor because each FFG game tends to follow the same model, are still always problematic. (Point costs, chassis, upgrades, 1v1 deathmatch styles, rules complexity, physical pieces vs digital errata, having to buy new stuff to keep up.)

Well, I preordered both Chimaera and MC75 on Miniature Market when they were put up for preorder in September. Unfortunately, I made the mistake of ordering other ships in that order, and MM doesn't ship until all items are available.

ugh I hate that, I love TheWarStore because they don't do it that way. (plus MM is based in STL so they charge me tax).

If you contact them by phone or live chat they'll split the order for you.

Thank you, I will do that now, I am a little tired of waiting :)

I think given that Armada is grounded in the OT and the next movie is in the Sequel Trilogy Armada development tends to take a back seat compared to other games that can release stuff from the next movie. Granted the ship here was from the last movie, still I guess Armada doesn't have as much marketing pull as other SW licensed product lines.
