My Wife Is Going with Me to a Tournament!

By Boba Rick, in X-Wing

I can't believe it. My wife went from hating X-Wing to going to a tournament with me tomorrow. She played a single game, embraced the thrill of victory, and said she wanted to go to a competition. She's played about five games with me. She said her goal is to win at least one game.

She is very sensitive to smells, but fortunately this store is a non-smelly environment.

She is running Autoblaster Missile Miranda with Harpoons and Mangler Dash with Expertise and Rey. It's an extremely nasty combo if she can get a Harpoon off followed up immediately by Dash's Mangler.

She is the best wife ever.

WHEN (not if) she gets that 1st tournament victory, I think you should take her to a nice dinner and celebrate !

Oh yes, I forgot I already mentioned this, didn't I?

Sorry, I can't help but be a little excited.

Did we ever get pics to prove the claim?

Challenge.

That's quite the about-face. Well, let us know how it goes!

Caution: Tournaments very nearly made my wife quit. She's got a knack for pulling potent meta lists as adversaries and she's more of a straight dial Imperial player. She didn't enjoy it very much. She's only just started to show interest again recently.

Make sure she had fun!

I refuse to post pics of my wife, but she's 5' 7" and 138 pounds of pure hotness.

So you married up?

J/K, of course - obviously, I don't know anything about you.

Dude! The ladies don't want their weight to be "out there" either.

Edit that to say "5'7" of pure hotness" asap!

Yes, I definitely married up. I do not deserve her.

LOL. I have the same policy regarding my unicorn. But trust me, it’s real.

Mine got me into X-Wing and placed better on our first tournament, actually she placed 5th, while I was somewhere down on the bottom. But hey at least I placed 6th last store championship while she only made 7th place:P

What? As opposed to the other 7 wives?

Course, with a handle like Boba, maybe cloning is a thing. . .

You deserve her if you make sure you do. That's the secret of a good marriage. ?

My wife just started role-playing with me last week. And she's a complete Star Wars geek. Unfortunately, she doesn't really like tactical games, so probably no XWM.

I've been teaching my girlfriend how to play. She still is having trouble with the order of everything.

*derogatory comment about boba rick actually having a wife*

*whine of imperial tie fighters intensifies*

sorry guys, I gtg....

(All in good jest. Congrats! You never know, next thing you know she'll be dragging you to regionals or beyond....)

Also, don't forget to HAIL HYDRATE!

My wife still dislikes the game, but our entire wedding party was two dozen board games, several crates of craft beers, and a literal van-load of incredible donuts, so I'm not going to complain. Especially when we went to a game store on our honeymoon and she insisted we buy another game. Tomorrow she's making fresh waffles for myself and the best man from the wedding while we play X-wing in the kitchen.

I may not be able to convince her to play, but I don't think I could be happier anyway.

My wife loves playing casual.

It's actually kind of a nice break - we set up missions or scenarios and just play 'em out for an evening; a great breath of fresh air after dealing with the latest meta ships elsewhere.

Well done...

... after 15 years of gaming whilst married my wife actually went to the Hoth open with me (I asked her if she wanted a holiday in Chicago... we live in Hong Kong - attending the open was the caveat).

She hated to say that she actually enjoyed it :-), and won 3/7 games with Dengar & Boba.

Good luck, and enjoy!

My wife just discovered Star Wars Rebels. She watched 1 and a half season in one day. I don't know if I'm proud or worried.

PS: She already plays some (very) casual board/card games with me. Maybe now I can bring her definitely to X-Wing. (I might need to set up a HotAC campaign for maximum effect)

That first tournament is always a rough one because of random swiss pairings in the first couple rounds. I always had it tough with my wife and playing MTG because in tournaments she would get the random pairings against almost-pro-player-x, get frustrated, want to quit, etc. But a couple rounds in where she was playing against the same record as her (win or lose) she felt she had a much better chance and enjoyed the games more. I felt lucky mine asked and joined me playing Magic (long before xwing). She enjoys the card game but eventually the tournament scene wasn't as much fun as drafting at home with friends. She won't touch x-wing, spacial awareness tactical games are most definitely out of the question.

You're a lucky man, enjoy the tournament!

And don't forget to report back the results.

I need an awesome GIF, vid, or image that will show that this game is awesome. My wife just told her friends on FB that she is going with me and I need to express awesomeness in a reply.
