Graz the Hunter and Contraband Cybernetics

By Kyle Ren, in X-Wing

Any RPG players out there will recognize that the picture on Contraband Cybernetics is Graz the Hunter. I’m pretty sure that this card is worthless and will join Graz in the pile of unused cards at the bottom of my bin of X-Wing stuff. But what do you think? Is there any synergy here? Is Contraband Cybernetics useful in any build?

It's a solid option for Kihraxz Fighters with the title. The ability to dial in red maneuvers while stressed is something they'll need to account for while planning their moves, since they can no longer assume you won't have a K-turn dialed in. That you can K-turn and still get an action is pretty great.

EDIT: Graz was just a terrible pilot ability overall for that ship. It basically says, "When defending, if the attacker is inside your firing arc, pretend you're a StarViper without Autothrusters. But if they're not, then you're still just a Kihraxz."

Or Graz-CC-Vaksai-Cruise Missiles-Guidance Chips-Munitions Failsafe? K-turn into a five-dice attack! (And then be stressed forever...)

Yeah, I just wish it didn’t come with that extra stress. That’s pretty brutal. I guess if party bus was still a thing, it could be fun on that!

Contraband Cybernetics might replace Pattern Analyzer on my typical Quadjumper build when I'm trying to save a point:

Jakku Gunrunner (15)
- Spacetug Tractor Array (2)
- Intelligence Agent (1)
- Contraband Cybernetics (1)
Total: 19

Oh yeah, I forgot about the Vaksai :)

I used to run Adrenaline Rush on one of my IG-88s. People would frequently get caught off guard by the fact that my ship could pull off a K-turn while double-stressed, which helped me line up shots that they weren't expecting. This is basically the same thing, with the added bonus of also letting you take an action regardless of the number of stress tokens on you.

I think its a pretty **** god card for the points. I can see it used in brobot lists.

It might see some use with a party bus YV. I might prefer it over dampeners in some instances.

The best part about the cybernetics was the cool bit of lore they threw in about Dalan

Been there, done that. It was pretty awesome and still a viable list. Need to break it out when I start flying again.

I mean, CC is free on the Khiraxz thanks to Vaksai. If nothing else, the ability to dump it in an emergency in the way you would with Glitterstim isn't terrible when it's a free option. Couple with some Cruise Missiles and your K-turns become a bit more scary.
