EPT for Corran in this build??

By drail14me, in X-Wing Squad Lists

I ran this Corran yesterday and had a good game.

Corran + Expertise + R2-D2 + Sensor Jammer + Stealth Device + Plasma Torps

It's good for damage output since I can take a Target Lock as an action and use Expertise on attacks.

However, the main idea was to do as much on Defense as I can. So, wondering if Lone Wolf or another EPT would be better for boosting Defense while still helping on offense.

Or, I guess I could just take a Focus Action and save it for Defense.

Push the Limit? You can focus and evade to turtle up. If you have R2D2, the idea is that you'll be doing green maneuvers a lot. That is a possibility to help for both offense and defense?

I’ve been running the standard Corran PTL, R2, EU, AS list for a while. Looking for something different.

I used to run Corran with Lone Wolf, R2-D2, Sensor Jammer, Stealth Device and Flechette Torpedo. It takes patience, but I had a number of games I didn’t even need the regen.

Paired with Miranda I went 9-3 with the list before I quit playing it.

I set a hard cap for Corran Horn at 50 points. Spending any more is just asking too much from the rest of the list.

Fire Control Systems, Engine Upgrade, Marksmanship, Fire control Systems, R7 Astro.

The constant target locks & Marksmanship should allow for some fun exchanges, especially with Marksmanship. If you fall into an issue where you can't use your TL or don't need it, then the R7 gives you a bit of a defensive buff. Thoughts?

Never Marksmanship. Spend 1 more point for Expertise or do something else entirely.

Always Push the Limit.

Always.

Almost.

I’ve seen good Corran builds with VI, Lone Wolf or DTF. PtL is by far the most consistent and user-friendly, but Corran it isn’t stapled to 1 EPT the way many other pilots are.

I'm gonna have to disagree. Corran is best served with PTL and no other EPT comes close to being that effective.

The only time I can see him having another EPT such as VI is when he is partnered with someone like Ahsoka who can give him additional actions.

The other EPT’s I mentioned are very dependent on other ships in your list. He needs action support with VI. The DTF build was typically paired with Biggs. The Lone Wolf version of Corran I posted earlier requires the rest of the list to punch above its weight class. I haven’t seen a successful Expertise Corran yet, but it could happen.

PtL is the best choice for an independent Corran that pairs well with a variety of wingmen. It is his most effective EPT, but still isn’t automatic. Maybe it’s atomatic for you. Have you tried to fly Corran with anything else?
