Bull's Eye Arc for other ships

By Stefan, in X-Wing

I actually really wish they'd given this to the Scurrg.

Yeah, it dropped bombs. That's cool. But it also packed six heavy laser cannons; it would have been nice to see the ship have a feature that did something other than bombs, even if it cost it some of its bombing potential in the process.

Simple solution. Make a PS* T-65 X-Wing Pilot with cost **: The X-Wing veteran FanBoy/Copycat. It has a cardboard base with the bulleseye markings. While designing your squad, choose another T-65 X-Wing pilot card. That becomes the cost and pilot skill and ability of your X-Wing. SIMPLE.

There is precedence for this with the Nashta Pup pilot card and base, albeit it has a printed point cost on the upgrade card...this is actually the most efficient and somewhat clever way to fix a lot of ships. I really dig this idea

We'll have to see, when it finally comes out, what the eventual width is.

I'd like it if it was 20mm, like a maneuver template, because then it would be easy to attach to a new ship without needing a new base insert; all you'd need would be the rules card telling you how to measure the arc and a card to 'attach it' (mod, EPT, whatever).

The fact that the 'bullseye' arc doesn't seem to have been designed that way is a shame, because making new mechanics open-ended to allow ease of reuse seems important for a game which develops in the way X-wing does.

If I'd had my way the Bullseye would have simply been 'put a 5 straight in the front guides, any ship whose base overlaps the template is in the bullseye'. Simple, everyone's got the tools for it, and retrofittable.

Exactly what I meant; it doesn't give the mechanic by default to any other ship, but nothing stops you producing an elite pilot talent ("strafing run") or secondary weapon ("centreline cannons") or whatever to provide it to other ships later, subject to suitable restrictions on the upgrade card.

I could get behind the X-Wing (T65) having the bulleye; though i would like it no been printed.......yes i know all my cards are erated to have different words

E-Wings as well.

^This was my thought exactly.

That 5-straight already fits snuggly in the nubs, and is exactly the same length as range 2, which seems perfect, thematically. How much would that remind you of quad linked cannons in the old X-wing game??

If those dotted lines are narrower (and it looks like they are), that means lining up your range ruler is going to be a much messier process, with more opportunity to accidentally come off at an angle.

If you're dead set on extending it to range 3, you still want to line it up with the nubs to make your range ruler easier to line up.

This is not hard to do. Make a transparent plastic base with a bulls-eye arc that slides over the existing cardboard base.

I like this idea, or maybe a clear sticker. A good way to fix the U-Wing arc as well.

I love the idea with the 5-straight. Not sure if it is strong enough as a secondary weapon, though, since you can only gain range 2 and lose any Range 1 bonus.
