I slightly disagree with their choice for kihraxz, especially with the Vaksai not getting its own model, and I was disappointed that the second Scyk release didn't have the extended front fins...

Me too. The style II scyk would have been... scyk.

But I can see why they didn't pick the other style for the Kihraxz. That silhouette might be a little too similar to the E-wing.

There are 2 movies in the next 6 months as well as everything else The Mouse has planned. Star Wars is the biggest entertainment phenomenon in the world right now. Neither FFG nor Disney are going to miss out on all the easy cash to be made from the license.

Well there is no doubt that X-wing won't lack source material, but the former template on how expansions are assembled is no longer the standard. Now expansions don't have to have upgrade cards that are compatible with the model. You could put a X-wing title in the rebel expansion pack in the next wave, and that ship doesn't have to be a X-wing or even have the ability to equip the title. You could have <missile> in an expansion that can only equip <torpedo>, or <crew> on a ship with no <crew> slots. The business, is not in any danger anytime soon because the business is hot and when hot no wrong can be done. The business model however is rather fragile, and it is the business model which will determine if the business stays hot or becomes cold, and once the business is cold, it is too late.

I did actually enjoy that. I also wonder if the force and destiny rpg didn’t sell as well as they’d hoped, so they are putting as much weight into it in the articles for their most popular game in an attempt to spark interest.

Quite possibly. They've used original characters before, but I don't remember them drawing attention to it like this.

Heh, it is amusing that the article actually provides a lore reason why Dalen has a new ability, i.e. that's not Dalen.

You wouldn't be able to run StarViper Dalen AND Kimo Dalen on the same list because they are unique, right? I wonder if there was a good reason why the re-used the same pilot name with two different abilities. Would they have synergized too well somehow?

I would assume so, yes. Discount the possible fluff explanation, and it's still the same pilot name.

As for a hard, gameplay reason for it, I'm not sure. I doubt there is some sort of game breaking combo with those two abilities in the same list together. Maybe if the Kimo Dalan was designed first?

I think mostly because under the current unique rules, if they want to call them both "Dalan Oberos" they can't make them not exclusive without also meaning you can take multiple SV or multiple M12 Dalans as well. Attempts to do so might be silly.

That said it wouldn't surprise me if Kimogila was first, it's got an earlier SKU than G4H.

This ship will be fair if and only if it doesn't have 3-speed turns. We all know that Unhinged astromech is going to be stapled to this ship anyway.

It's one and two turns are red, and you don't want it to have 3 speed turns? It's dial seems to be massively detrimental to the ship already considering the only moves we know this ship has so far are red. The ship's main trick in catching ships in it's bullseye arc seems to be difficult to pull off already, and if it doesn't have speed 3 turns I highly doubt this thing will even see any play.

FFG changing the rules about one ship that was consistently a concern (and over a year after it initially released) is hardly grounds to claim that their entire expansion model is out the window moving forward.

The rules have been changed regardless, first it went from errata now to ships. Moving forward there is no denying that all expansions are now prone to the same treatment. If it happened before, then it can and will happen again. But what do I know, I've only being saying this since the first batch of meta erratas. The nerf cycle continues.

It's not difficult to pull off if you've got an excellent dial (which is what any dial with green turns is), barrel roll at PS 10 and probably boost from Engine upgrade as well. The PS 8 ace is going to be the standout from the box - especially given the sheer number of Bullseye triggers he has.

It's not going to have maneuverability problems, but it's going to have big, big problems with TLTs and ion turrets (are they a thing yet?), as well as ac-dodging fat turrets, but what doesn't?

Ah, that makes sense. The Kimo ability wouldn't work on the SV, so something new had to be given, just like if any of the Shadow Caster pilots were out on other Scum ships without mobile arcs.

Still a little odd why they thought they needed this guy for both expansions, but a little more understandable.

Seriously, this article sucked compared to the amazing Gunboat article that pretty much laid out everything in the expansion.

Mynocks has some really good discussion around the incoming Kimigula and its bullseye arc. This got me thinking about cheeky target locks.

I will certainly be using the impossible Target Lock attempt in new ways once this ship hits.

Also, has the community decided how wide the BS arc is - is it as thicc as a movement template or a range rule?

The preview makes it look narrower than a movement template but we're not sure exactly. I hope it's the same width as SOMETHING so that you can measure it easily...

Either makes sense.
I think it needs to be a maneuver template to be viable, but I'm also worried the BS arc is strong .

My guess is that it's the width of a range ruler. It's narrower than maneuver templates and has the added benefit of you know, being able to measure range.

That would make sense, but you know FFG and making sense :P
