Clan Representation for Day 2

By Tokhuah, in Legend of the Five Rings: The Card Game

These numbers are far more in line with expectations:

The bottom 3 are exactly what I was thinking. I was expecting a bit less Lion and Dragon and a bit more Scorpion and Crane, but close enough...

Phoenix and crab burned their numbers on Day1Z. But man, the player base doubled and Unicorn didn't even move. Ouch!

Since Scorpion is recognized as T1 and that is a horrible match-up for Phoenix I expected a showing much more in line with what we see today than yesterday. Crab, Phoenix, and Unicorn are playing for best of Clan at this point. The cool thing about watching this play out is the community will have a much more fleshed out tier list when it is done.

Which will then immediately change next week when seeker/keeper roles have been selected and new cards are introduced. ;)

So are these the numbers JUST for Day 2, or is it a retotaling after combining with Day 1 players?

Where did you get this, if you don't mind me asking? I'd like to follow it :)

Its on the FFG OP twitter.

Wednesday: 49 (i think) players and 3 Unicorn.

Today: 123 players today and only 5 Unicorn.

This is not looking good. So much for being a Horde :(

Thanks :)

I can't speak for the rest of the world, but I know in our local community, a lot of players stay up-and-up on the current "meta", and Unicorn kind of got a bad reputation. I haven't gotten around to building a deck for them myself, but I have played a couple against a friends Unicorn deck, and I didn't find it vastly underpowered or anything. It was actually a pretty fun game.

Every meta is different. Unicorns are everywhere in the area I play. People want to feel special. It's kind of funny. Everyone is so focused on being different that they end up being the same.

I am special dangit! I can lose faster than anyone else, so there.

Yes, the beauty of LCGs is the meta is an ever moving target. Just think how much things will change when the Shadowlands become a playable faction and we start seeing tainted fire chicken wizards.

All of this is a Political conflict so... no Horde. Maybe Border Raiders.

Then I'd say they're all a Captive Audience. :D

Man, just when I was starting to feel all rare and mysterious as a Dragon player.

Is this graph all the days combined or just these first two?

I think the stats are just for today. However, the number of participants is more than double from yesterday. I bet tomorrow will look like more of the same as today.

This is the internet for you; certain ideas become "prevailing" because of a few outspoken people, and a large number of people will simply latch onto the idea without even knowing the basis for it. Soon it becomes common knowledge based on some shaky ideas. My record with Unicorn is quite good since I've been building proper 3 core decks; you just have to identify the strengths and play to them as much as you can.

Not sure if everyone has seen the new promo card in honor of yesterday's proceedings!!!

Ahh ok yesterday's chart specifically said 1z and this one doesn't have a designation.

Unconfirmed Discord post of top 26 after round 5:

7 Crane

6 Dragon

4 Lion & 4 Scorpion

5 mix of 3 T3-4 Clans

What's funny is that I'd play my Phoenix or crab deck against any in that tourney and feel like I stand a good chance.

My area is saturated with dragon and crane. Scorpion is considered as bad as unicorn almost, and while it is one of the harder matches for my Phoenix, it's not nearly as difficult as lion is.

I'm currently undefeated with Phoenix out of about 30 games or so.

If you'd like a game against Scorpion, I'd happily take you on on Discord (note I'm a Phoenix player myself).

Here is my table of players currently making the Day 2 cut and their distribution. This table does ignore mod wins/losses, but there actually are not that many in the data; there are a total of 5 people out of the 61 with a mod win or loss. The Forecast column is the number of people with those records if Day 1b has an identical distribution as Day 1a had.

Okay, so comparing the field as a whole vs this you have...

Crab 10% v 13%, underrepresented

Crane 17% v 21%, underrepresented

Dragon 23% v 20%, overrepresnted

Lion 18% v 13%, overrepresented

Phoenix 8% v 7%, overrepresented

Scorpion 20% v 25%, underrepresented

Unicorn 4% v 2%, overrepresented

So people should play less Dragon, Lion, Phoenix, and Unicorn and more Crab, Crane, and Scorpion.

Pfft, 20% of the Unicorns qualified when only 14.2% should have. Unicorn is OP, that's why they're over-represented.
