Resurgence of Expert Handling and the Jumpmasters Getting their Tubes Tied

Ran that build for awhile and I don't have kannan and I found it to easy to double stress myself, Kannan or not. So while expert handling was useful, the two turns where you couldn't do anything after were not. I'd say stick with expertise or VI.

I was putting Kanan and Inspiring Recruit, so the double stress wasn't a problem... However, I didn't have the same offensive punch clearly.

Edit: No, Kanan doesn't trigger inspiring recruit, but if I'm double stressed the green clears both

Yeah it's hard to justify giving up Finn given her pilot ability.

First question: If missiles and torpedoes become more of a thing than they are now, do you think Expert Handling will see some use? A great way to shed a Target Lock!

Second question: Harpoons and the bombing nerf will increase missile/torp useage, but at the same time the Jumpmasters getting their tubes tied will decrease it. Where do you think this will all pan out?

1) One of the problems with shedding a target lock is that you generally need a higher PS to be effective. But if you already have a higher PS, it is naturally harder for lower PS ships to lock you since you can stay out range of their TLs and move into the ordnance bubble after you enter engagement range.

The other problem is Deadeye, mentioned in another topic.

2) Who knows? Look forward to indiscriminate devastation! :D

I'm clearly insane.

Expert Handling 2
Autoblaster Turret 2
Dengar 3
Vectored Thrusters 2
Moldy Crow 3

I would propose here: Intensity and Recon Specialist for the same points. Reload your Intensity whenever you want and barrel roll for evade token.

Kanan should work with inspiring recruit on a white. What reason makes you say it doesn't?

I put Expert Handling on Vader for an epic game. My opponent target locked him once, then never bothered again. In that venue, it was definitely points well spent.

I've done that before actually, though it was using Blaster Turret instead of Autoblaster. It was a lot of fun to fly.

Ive been experimenting with Expert Handling, EI soontir for awhile now - and it's definitely a nice trick against target locking ships - Omega Leader hates him. But, it's not as flexible as PTL, still, it's a decent alternative.

NNnnnh... I spoke a bit out of turn. I don't like the wording interaction going on here with Kanan and Inspiring Recruit. On the same ship it looks like they interact fine, on separate ships it gets... interesting.

  • Kanan: Once per round, after a friendly ship at Range 1-2 executes a white maneuver, you may remove 1 stress token from that ship.
  • Inspiring Recruit: Once per round, when a friendly ship at Range 1-2 removes a stress token, it may remove 1 additional stress token.

So Kanan removes the stress token from a ship at range 1-2... Does that trigger Inspiring Recruit from that separate ship as well? I'm not even sure of the intent. Usually on the weird interactions the intent is pretty clear despite the rule arguments, I'm totally unsure about this one. I try rule conservatively on card interactions and to me since Kanan removes the stress, the friendly ship does not, so therefor does not trigger inspiring recruit. Thankfully, these two crew don't often show up in the same list.

Same; and I've tried it with Dorsal too, love it alongside two G-1s.
