Guns for Hire: Not enough generics for Starviper?

By Randito, in X-Wing

Sorry if this has already been covered: A dumb question.

In the Guns for Hire expansion, how come they didn't include extra generics for the Starviper.

It's missing the PS1 Starviper (Black Sun Enforcer) and the PS3 (Black Sun Vigo) in exchange for the PS5 Starvipers (Black Sun ***).

That kind of sucks. I have extra Starvipers but I can't fly all of them at the same Pilot Skill. I don't remember any kind of pack or expansion coming out that caused mismatched generics like this.

Wow, two PS1 Starviper's with the discount would be awesome to fly! Nope. No luck for you.

Welcome to 2013 when they did the same thing for Imperial Aces.

And Imperial Veterans.

Because they included new generics instead of copies of the old generics.

I had to get 4 starvipers to plus 2 guns for hire to run 4 starvipers and sunny Bounder.

Surely FFG would have to declare insolvency if they would add the cards and markers for the old generics on top of the new ones in their ace-packs.

It's not like Imperial Aces had alpha squaddies, for instance. This sort of thing has been happening for the majority of the life of the game.

Yes it has happened before. But it still sucks. There is no need to double up on the new generic.

I disagree.

On the new generic yes. What if I want to fly two at that ps? That makes more sense to me than tossing in the old generics, although having 2x new generic plus one of the old generics would be perfect

Of course not. They would need to add another cardboard sheet, though.

On the other hand, the sheer number of Brace tokens the Rogues and Villains Expansion pack in Armada proved they will do that if they must.

Oh, I get it, I get it all right. For years everyone used to buy the StarViper pack, take the Autothrusters out then flog the rest on eBay. Now a funky new title comes out with a nifty barrel roll and three point reduction, and suddenly everyone wants their Black Sun Enforcers and Vigos back, don't they?

Well, you're going to have to pay through the nose for them now matey, aren't you? Eh? Eh? Eh?

Sorry. I was wrong. I just wanted to run a bunch of cheap PS1s with the cards and ships I bought.

No need to chomp my head off.

I don't think anyone was too upset- If anything, I think any bitterness you see is from people who wish they had enough alpha/delta/scimitar squadron pilots to run a particular list.

I mostly just wish they did include them, akin to the PS 1&3 Headhunter chit they threw in the box for Scum & Villany.

Especially in a pack where there are only two ships and no special new bomb tokens or the like, I'd wonder what on earth they were filling the designated cardboard with instead...

Usually if they include a new higher pilot skill generic in a special release expansion they don't include the original two generics.

TIE Interceptors, TIE Bombers, TIE Defenders, and the Star Viper all had a pair of the new generic pilots added to them thus didn't get the older generics added.

X-wings, A-wings, B-wings, TIE Advanced, TIE Fighters, T-70s, Scyks, and Kihraxz didn't get a new non-unique pilot so they had the original non-unique pilots.
