What if all EPTs were unique?

By DonDingo3000, in X-Wing

Hereteic but serious question.

keen on answers....

It wouldn't make a huge difference?

The only ones you tend to see doubled up are PTL, Expertise and VI/adaptability - they're the ones it would really effect.

And mindlink, but that would need a pass.

Would anyone really notice?

A-Wing swarms would!

Crack Swarms would be boned too, but it's not like they're not boned already.

I don't think this makes sense, though I could see several being unique that aren't. Deadeye for example could be unique instead of small ship only.

Wohooo! Youngster will be useful again, since he can provide all the action EPTS for everyone! Back in the gam.... oh wait

I recently played in a tournament where all uniques (pilots and upgrades) were banned and once you used an upgrade or ship, you couldn't use it again. I thought it would be hard to come up with an effective list that didn't include a PS6 TIE Defender and Interceptor, but I managed to win with a Scum list that included a Gand Findsman G1A Starfighter.

Well, in most cases, this seems to be a decent idea. And then there is Attani. Or any of the one-use cards.

For the rest, it would probably not make a lot of difference, but precisely because of this, I'd actually like that.

Easy fix for Mindlink would just having a Manaroo crew card which works as the other half of the pair - sure, it would limit how it could be structured but could be a good solution.

Noooooo! ...

(thematic, I'll agree - it's a one in a million shot, not everyone has that skill - but, noooooo! :D )

I think it is an artificial limiter that might be fun in special format rules, but just an awkward impedance for general play.
