De-modeling borad games

By Warp_spawn, in Talisman

Frist off this should be here but i dont know were to put it. Thoght a long series of event for wich I'm not to blame (honest gov) some borad game, realy classics went in to a celler, that flood and to cut a long story short there now we and moldy I realy want to save them i meen just take a look.

  • Dungeon quest
  • Talisman 2nd ed
  • Talisman Timescape
  • And many more out of print games

I'v put the games in a seald plasic boxs nexst to a raidotor and am going to dayle open the boxs and dry them out and repet until the games are dry and i can frezes them im hopeing this will kill of the spore. But not to sure how this will work and like comments and sugtions.

Sorry about the spelling just spent the last 10 hours keanig out the celler and am now nakerd.

I don't think freezing will kill the spores, but I'm not sure about that. I'd dry the games with a hair dryer if I were you. Heat does kill spores.

Good luck.

Dry them under preassure next to a tray of salt or rice so that they dry flat and the moisture is sucked out.

Freezing won't kill the mould at anything available to the general public. If you work in a low-temperature physics lab, go for it :P

Once the mould is dry, it wil lbe inert. If you really want to kill it, you'd need a light disinfectant. It may cause even more damage that way though.

Do you mean De-Molding, not de-modeling. Mold is a fungus like plant, and models are, at least in this game, metal or plastic. If you de-model it you simply pick them up and take them out of the box but then have a :( face cuz you have no models to play the game with.

Mold? Well man, that sucks super-big ones if you have it on the box, let alone on the board of the game itself, or the cards!!!!! Perhaps you could start a mold and spores collection. I don't know how to get mold off of something, other than perhaps scrape it off, or find a disinfectant, spray it and see what happens. Experimentation in this area might help.

Do not breath in the mold (which ultimately can kill you if its black in color (no joke), and good safety tip: wash your hands after handling.
