The Wexley's

By Cow-of-Doom, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Hi guys!!

So I've been tossing this list around for a while, and I keep trying to find ways to fill the last 27 points. I like having Snap and Norra in there, both because of the thematic element but also because I like both ships. I will admit the Norra setup has died really quickly in every setup I've played against and I don't know if thats a sign its a bad setup, or becasue they have been not the best matchups every time (I've gone against an alpha strike that nuked her in 2 turns, a QD that nuked her in one, and a Falcon that nuked her in 2 turns). I don't know if that means the list is bad, or if I've just been unlucky :D

As for the 27 points, I've tried a Blue B Wing with FCS and Ion, which was alright, an Auzituck, which didnt really work for what I as looking for, and recently I tried the standard (minus scavanger crane) Ahsoka Tie/Sab, which was helpful but I really missed the attack dice once Norra got nuked. I was thinking of trying a Warden Squadron pilot with Bomblet and Sabine next. Its 28, so I would have to drop a point somewhere. Or I could just not take sabine and slap a 1 point something or other somewhere. I also had the idea of taking Roark with Dorsal Cassian and PRS: that way i can boost Norra to a 12 to assure a first shot before dying or something.

Anyway, here's the list. What do you all think?? What other 27 point shenanigans do you all like to use as fillers? (A-Wings perhaps? A Kyle Katarn HWK with support capabilites? A smart and helpful Wookie??)

Nora Wesley (ship total 38)

R5P9

Expertise

Rey

Alliance Overhaul

Snap Wexley (ship total 35)

Black One

BB8

Primed Thrusters

Veteran Instincts

Auto thrusters

A friend recently won a tournament with this beautiful list, called "mother, son, and pet":

Norra: PTL, title, Kyle Katarn, BB8
Snap: Intensity, R2, Pattern Analyzer, Integrated Astromech
Lohwwrick: Trick Shot, Rey, Jan Ors

Just in case, what Norra can do:
1. Reveal green
2. BB8-roll
3. PTL for focus or TL, get stress
4. move green, remove stress
5. get focus

This ends her with focus, focus, TL. Or focus, evade, TL because of Jan Ors, while Snap does Snap things.
I'd personally think about a primed thruster in Snap, and changing Rey to Jyn Erso, but that might be greedy and less reliable because it's action dependent.

Jess might be a good fit?

@GreenDragoon did you mean to take the primed thrusters off of snap? (I've got em on there XD). I just like having BB-8 on Snap with the Black One, because you can strip two target locks per round for free and makes him more flexible at PS8. I tried to build the ARC to be self competent: if I had a TL from the previous round I can focus and get a second focus from rey, either for dual evade rolls, evade + regen, or regen + Rey if I fail to roll any focus on evade (which happens a lot sadly :( )

@Estarriol yeah that was my other thought. Jess and M9-G8 would come out to 28, so it would be the same thing as the Warden (ditch points somewhere).

I guess all the cheap rebel support ships can come into play. I was considering an attack shuttle (Supporty crew or something and a turret), but it's just been too squishy when i've played it in the past.

I could also take a stresshog y wing, but like with the B wing, having two 1 defense ships at the same time (niether with intensley amazing defense capabilities) is kinda risky.

If only Waxer from The Clone Wars TV show was here: then we could have Waxer and Wexleys XD.

I wish you the best of luck with this build. Once I gave up on a Wedge build I have been focusing on the Wexley’s .

Some points i learned:

Snap, like the books, likes to fly off. He doesn’t want to be in formation.

Nora likes to be bossy, “give me your target lock”

I’ve tried to add Dutch, for the free target lock hand out, with your choice of turret. However, that means stripping the other two of precious upgrades.

Here is is what I am trying out;

Wexley's (100)

•Norra Wexley (38) - ARC-170
Expertise (4), •C-3PO (3), Targeting Astromech (2), Alliance Overhaul (0)

•"Snap" Wexley (35) - T-70 X-Wing
Intensity (2), •BB-8 (2), Comm Relay (3), Integrated Astromech (0)

•Kyle Katarn (27) - HWK-290
Trick Shot (0), Twin Laser Turret (6)

The Snap build is excellent! That being said, Pattern Analyzer instead of Primed Thrusters would allow you to get both your free boost and an action after a red, and R2 Astro could free up your dial a lot.

In such a case, you could switch BB-8 to Norra and do a dancing Norra (PTL, BB-8, Kyle Katarn, EU, AO), or else I'd advise the classic tank Norra (PTL, C-3PO, R2-D2, VT, AO).

That leave you enough points for a SuperRex (Title, Chewie, Shield Upgrade) to take some heat, or an Ahsoka (VI, Title, Rey, etc) to boost the action economy.

Not anymore unfortunately. As per FAQ, things that trigger after you execute a maneuver with pattern analyzer occur after the relocated check stress step.

Snap would get stressed before he could boost for free.

Oh darn I missed that
