No ponies?

What are these amazing Unicorn only cards people are talking about? The best ones revealed so far are splashable for others.

As for the clan itself, it doesn't do anything another clan can do better right now. The stronghold helps you not to over commit but any good player can make those same decisions and still get a better box out of the deal.

Swift Magistrate and Windswept Yurt are very good. I don't know that I would call them amazing, as they are not meta defining, but, they certainly improve Unicorn a great deal.

As far as what the clan does better "right now".........it's really difficult to say. The stronghold is very good, but, right now it would be the equivalent of the Crab having more than half their guys say "may not defend" or Lion having a bunch of guys that say "cannot participate in a military conflict." When the Unicorn have access to a decent number of cavalry characters, the power of the stronghold will be much easier to see.

This is just storytelling in cards as implemented by ffg. Unicorn, as in the fiction is still the outsider. It will grow in power until it becomes the op broken stuff it's meant to be.

Same way scorpion is a dominant powerful political deck over all as it's how it's in the court now. Crane and lion are so far designed to fight each other endlessly to a bloody stalemate, dragon, while obviously strong and mystical, is still clunky and in search of his identity coming down from the mountain and phenix, while indubitably powerful, needs to find it's way.

And crab, well crab is waiting and die.

It will change with coming extensions but so far the flavor is I think quite installed.

Thank you! This is how I've been interpreting the card/"power" metering and I wondered if I was just reading into it too much.

Considering that it's actually impossible for 4-2 players (I can show you the proof if you need) to make the top 16 cut at Worlds, the Unicorn are doing just as well as Phoenix are at the moment as both clans have a single 5-1 player.

I thought you needed 34 points to advance? If you win all 4 of your matches with normal wins you’d have 40 points or if you had 3 normal wins and 1 modified win, that would be 36 points. So shouldn’t that mean a 4-2 record could make day 2?

*edit*

nevermind I see it now.....

”top 16”

These are not the droids you are looking for. You can go about your business. Move along.

Oh, no, you're right, 4-2's do make it to Day 2. But it's completely impossible for a 4-2 to make the natural Top 16 cut. They could, potentially, if the competition is low enough, make the Challenger position, but due to the way the tournament is set up it actually cannot happen that a 4-2 makes it into the natural Top 16.

I'm making a thread on this right now to show my numbers, should be up soonish. Long story short is, wiping the strength of schedule between days is a terrible idea and it makes having a two round Day 2 actually a waste of time for everyone.

That would be an incredibly **** way of integrating the story with the cards. Deliberately underpowering a whole faction due to nebulous "story" reasons is the kind of thing that would make me quit the game.

Fortunately, I don't think that's what FFG is actually doing. They may have just missed the mark a little in terms of power level, but there's plenty of time to right the ship.
