Who wants to see the unpainted minis and new upgrades??

By Undeadguy, in Star Wars: Legion

Also note that both the T-47 weapons appear to have "Arma Fija: Posterior" which would translate to Fixed: Rear , and the harpoon has Impact as well as a new (?) keyword that looks like "Cable de Remolque" which would mean Tow Cable . Can't make out the description for that though

I want an airslider so bad now! I think the painted one looked a little boring for some reason but now seeing the unpainted model... I am super excited to have a slider zipping around the battlefield!

ooh ooh ooh!! just found the weapon options on the atrt!!

slide 2 at the top.

Edit- Box contents!!

http://www.fantasyflightgames.es/juegos/articulo/star_wars_legion/star_wars_legion

via google translate (sorry if it's screwy, i don't speak a work of spanish)

33 plastic miniatures, 8 plastic barricades, 15 dice, 3 movement templates, 1 scope rule, 8 Unity cards, 35 Improvement cards, 14 Command cards, 12 Battle cards, 1 round flag, 107 cards diverse, 1 indicator of round and 1 notebook of Learn to Play

I'm guessing the 107 is going to be tokens,

8 unit and 12 battle the deployment/objectives.

14 command cards (duh)

35 improvement = squad upgrades.

Those are renders, not unpainted miniatures. The clear plastic is way to clear.

Obviously but they are an indication of what the mini's will look like.. it shows that the t-47 will be able to be glued with open airbrakes if you wish.

I'm more interested in the the weapons option for the AT-RT

The speeder article released about a week ago said that this would be an option to be fair.

What parts (if any) are "replaceable" with pegs such as gun mounts on hard points??....and what parts (if any) are moveable such as chin gun on AT-ST and air brakes on snowspeeder???

Vielendanke!!

I'm really unsure about that word that kinda looks like "repulsor", since it doesn't match any of the text on the Airspeeder card, so I don't know how one would define what that means [ex, as if it said "speeders only", as the Airspeeder has the Speeder keyword]. Also, it's been years since Spanish class.

I'd never thought about it before, but cards do have a "type", eg Trooper, that's referenced by certain upgrades, eg Vader's Force Choke.

In the Spanish image the Airspeeder was covering it, but in the English image it's not:

By subtractive blurriness, I'm now 95% sure this "repulsor vehicle" and that Wedge's restriction is "repulsor vehicles only".

So... what other repulsor vehicles might we see in the future with a Wedge Antilles potentially slapped onto them?

Maine one of the early mcquarrie single seater air speeder designs?

....well...

Cloud cars, other airspeeder models, possibly landspeers of plenty of different types depending on how they do things...

The Spanish website is a treasure trove. Here's the size of the two Heavy options, finally putting a nail in those debates:

Can the US site trade article writers with the Spanish language branch? They seem so much more capable...

The Speeder bikes are also Repulsor Vehicles, not that Wedge cares about that. The AT-RT (and the AT-ST, probably? although we don't have as clear a picture so it's hard to tell) is just a "Ground Vehicle", which suggests whatever pilots the AT-ST comes with will be pretty multi-purpose for future Imperial vehicles.

If these guys had their own movie or T.V. series I would watch it!!!

One thing I would have loved was that Lucas would have had a sense of humor. I think since the Wilhelm scream (sorry if I mispelled it) made it into every movie it had become something you look forward to hearing/finding in the films. It would have been hilarious to have Porkins die in each film. Dont shoot a new scene just play the same scene in each film. Also if Emperor Palpatine as he is explaining to Luke how he has orchestrated the end of the rebellion would freeze in horror and just yell "EWOKS!!!"

FFG should use unpainted minis in their advertisement; otherwise, it seems like false advertising. If they want to show painted minis, they need to clearly indicate that in their adverts. Perhaps Spanish law prohibits this sort of activity and its why the Spanish get unpainted?

FFG in the past has shown unpainted minis in their adverts like these:

The Dust Tactics miniatures game is semi-advertised as unpainted by the pictures on the main site. Although their news articles shows painted minis.

But it also did an advert with painted minis

I think this isn’t about FFG being in any way dishonest, it about market expectations. Descent, Rune Bound, IA and Forbidden Stars are not sold as an all encompassing hobby in the same way that tabletop wargames are. If you look at GW, Privateer Press and the other big wargames companies, they sell their miniatures using promo material demonstrating what they *could* look like. So rather than a factually correct image of a single colour plastic sprue (not that exciting), they show you an image of a fully constructed and beautifully painted version of that model. RuneWars and Legion are both stepping into that market, so it makes sense that they’d take their marketing cue from other wargames, rather than how they’ve sold boardgames previously.

As for why the Spanish site is doing things differently, I have absolutely no idea. But I’m glad to be able to see images of the models, or at least CG renditions of them, with no paint on.

I have heard that miniature modeling and painting is a more popular hobby in Spain.

Will the miniatures require some assembly or are they ready to go out of the box? Semi confused with the description - do they mean assemble an army via units/heavies or assemble individual miniatures via parts to make an army?

" All Star Wars : Legion minis come unpainted, so after you assemble your army, you’ll be able to paint your miniatures into something that only you could have created."

If you watch Sorastro's Bespin Luke painting tutorial , it shows that Luke's arms need to be glued to the figure. It's safe to assume that some of the figures will need similar attention.

The vehicles have alternate weapons load-outs and the models come with the corresponding weaponry for you to attach. It's also highly likely there will be some assembly required for them as well. The Imperial Assault AT-ST & Rancor both came in pieces you could put together without glue, and most of the RuneWars figures need to be assembled (with glue) as well.

The IA vehicles were made of a harder, stiffer plastic and the figures had more flexibility and are a softer plastic. From the Sorastro video it looks like they went with a harder plastic for the figures. It may be a prototype that he painted up though, so we won't really know until the retail version shows up in the wild, in stores.

For those of us who follow such things, the orange coloration of the Luke model before priming in Sorarstro's video is a strong indication that it's an advanced 3D printed copy. As such, it's probably not a production copy and isn't a good indication of what the final plastic will be like. It's not uncommon for companies these days to paint up 3D printed samples before a product is released and use those for marketing. You can very occasionally see 3D printed "stepping" on some of Games Workshop's Rumour Engine samples.

I f you dig into the comments he actually states they are resin prototypes

Makes total sense. I'm guessing they model came off of one of the DLP 3D printers... the kind that "pull" a model out of a resin bath, using lasers to harden each layer of resin along the way. I'd be shocked to find that they did something as "old school" as make a mold using a master copy. It's simply easier today to print out another copy! :)
