L5R at Worlds today!

By Duciris, in Legend of the Five Rings: The Card Game

So, by my clock, Registration started 25 minuets ago at Worlds for L5R Day 1A. Aaaaaaaaaaaand there's still no FAQ? I don't play until Friday, but I'd really like to memorize the special cases that I haven't seen on any of the various forums before then...please?

Official write up of the FAQ is probably being run by members of the Dragon Clan, so timing will be off.... give it another few hours, or maybe a day or so. ?

It's written in the stars...

What, specifically, do you need from an FAQ that you can't get from a close examination of the RRG?

I wish I could down vote this thread for the clickbait title alone.

I can't tell is this is another thread whining about "no FAQ?" or a brag thread that the OP gets to play at worlds in Friday.

Either way, I assign my Otomo Courier for a political defense and my first action is For Shame!

Is it bad that part of me wants to invest in a hand bell to carry around at events just to act this out for times like this?

An audio file on loop is sufficient for this job so you don't need an actual bell.

Well, that’s a choice you can make.

You do know what happened to the character with the bell later on, correct? ?

:D

Yes, but she used it to humiliate someone. I would be using it for comedic effect, so I think I'd be safe enough. ^_^

We can only assume she lived out a happy and fruitful life.

Whining, actually. It's the day of and they haven't put it out, which means people will have to rely on Judges to solve every (applicable) dispute that has been previously answered on Facebook or various forums. It's a time sink in a game where people routinely go to time.

Also, you up clicked by responding. Twice.

For example, Togashi Yokuni with Way of the Dragon. It was explained by Brad Andres during an FB video, but that can't be cited as evidence during a game.

I'll just hijack this thread since it kind of feels stupid to make another one with L5R and world Championship in the title.

Stole this from facebook (thx Alejandro Tébar Díaz):

Unicorn is no surprise, but there are a lot more Phoneix decks on Day 1 than I expected. I also thought Dragon would be more popular.

Phoenix and Crab are my favorite clans, so in one way, I'm pleased. On the other hand, I hate playing the mainstream decks and like playing less popular choices. I don't see myself going in on Unicorn, but I might have to give it a try. Those spyglasses *are* appealing!

Those three have definitely had some of the best fiction so far (although I need more Phoenix myself).

Hijack away! This is really neat!

Funny coincidence. I run two decks right now:

- Phoenix with Crab splash (top 2 decks for Day 1)

- Lion with Unicorn splash (bottom 2 Clans for Day 1)

I'm guessing that Phoenix got the "IA Bump" since they were featured in the last Imperial Assembly podcast. Crab has the all those Night's Watch converts. ;)

I was expecting higher numbers from Crane and Scorpion, but, we still have a few more days and I suspect the overall clan representation to shift away from Phoenix and Crab as the results from the next couple days come in.

Or who knows, maybe the new crop of L5R players are going to take the war against the Shadowlands a little more seriously this time around and support the clans that are more focused on saving the realm from darkness, instead of getting wrapped up in politics.

To that I say.................Bring It!

Is today not full? I thought I saw someone post that there were only 50 in today's tourney, with 150+ in both of Friday's.

It may not be, they added today's rounds rather late, mostly to get everyone left in the lottery sign up a seat. I suppose there weren't many people left by then who had't already registered and could get the time off and funds to participate.

We'll see what happens in the following days, but I'm honestly surprised Crane, and Scorpion, didn't have the top 1 or two spots

Where is this podcast? I can’t find it...

It looks a little bit different today (except for ponies. Poor, poor ponies):

Thank you. I suppose the Dragon make sense. With event cancel being a supposed very real thing, a clan that can rely on attachments can have an edge.
