COncerning cards, i dont like everything leaning towards defesne, the game is slow enough without it.

These are the first two cards that I've felt kind of meh on.

Gaijun Customs seems like it won't get much use....yet. Only useful in a splash deck, and then you'll be relatively low on one clan's characters or the others....unless I'm missing something?

The holding isn't bad, but I feel like it loses a lot of usefulness by having a limit of 1 per deck. You can't rely on it coming out. Seems like deck space would be put to more efficient use on something else.

Gaijin Customs is an excellent card for the Unicorn splash, works wonders together with Spyglass, perfect for main Dragon or Crab.

This card seems a little odd to me. The cost is "if you control a Uni card" (and then choose a non-Uni).

In my Unicorn deck, I control my Uni Stronghold. So the cost will be always paid?
The RR says I control any out-of-play area cards. So any Uni cards in my deck, discard and hand can pay for that?
the way it seems, Gaijin Customs can pay for itself, since it is a Uni card. o_O

There is something I am missing here? Somewhere saying "you can only pay for costs with cards in play"?

EDIT: " Card abilities only interact with, and can only target, cards that are in play, unless the ability specifically refers to an out-of-play area or element."

This entry in RR is sufficient to address my question? O_O

Gaijin Customs does not "see" any unicorn cards you control that are not in play.

I didn't realize that first stipulation was Unicorn card ...I was reading it as character That definitely makes it better than I thought.

Honestly, with the ability to run 3 Iuchi Wayfinder and soon 3 Seal of the Unicorn that, if following the pattern set by SoC will make characters Unicorn, you could easily run Gaijin customs.

It combos well with Spyglass and is just a really powerful unbow tech. As a phoenix player I can say that Against the Waves is the best Phoenix card for a reason, unbow is really strong.

As for using it in a Unicorn deck, make sure your running a clan that has good splash characters and run some of the better neutrals, by the end of this cycle we should have a few more to work with.

Cards in provinces aren't considered in play, and thus "under your control", therefore it will not meet the requirements.

The Neutral Imperial Holding is pretty bad though, its a completely random empty province that your opponent can just play around if it even lands on an unbroken province. Only Crab can really care about it and even then it probably will not be hit a second time.

Such a shame, these imperial holdings short of the crab one really aren't that good.

So an ability like Shizuka Toshi ( Action: During a conflict, bow this stronghold. Choose a participating character with skill 2 or lower – bow that character.). How could I use it if my Stronghold isn't "in play"?

The stronghold is in play, as per the RRG, same as holdings. So in a Unicorn main deck, Gaijin Costoms are always on. Question is, what non-Unicorn character are you standing with it.

I'm still new, but I've liked splashing in the Crane conflict characters. Those seem good with this, and the card gets better as more conflict characters get released.

Careful. If you're also using Unicorn conflict characters, you might hit the cap. 10 character cards max in the Conflict deck.

Your correct, I forgot that the Stronghold is basically just a static Holding and has an exception, your correct then. It's always on for Unicorn, which is great as it basically reads, "Unbow a neutral/Splash character" which is pretty good once we have a stronger neutral base.

Maybe Unicorn might run the fun Imperial themed cards to unlock this powerful unbow.

Defend and attack with Political Rival sounds pretty strong. Just need another Crane conflict character worth splashing in Unicorn to up consistency.
