Jamming Beam any good?

Unused evades on x7s aren't worthless at all, they're Juke.

On one ship at best. Tripple juke does not fit into a tripple defender list. :)
Juke Ryad with two Juke glaives is unfortunately 2 points over. Personally I switch to adaptivity on Ryad and keep the juke on the glaives, but either way, just two jukes, meaning only one should be left at best ... unless you did successful arc dodge the opponent and don't have a huge stack of jamming tokens on your ship. :)

Speaking of jamming token stacks. Another strength of the x7 title is that all those evade tokens help to get rid quickly from even larger stacks of jamming tokens.

There's also the rather significant issue of having to both shoot at and hit your opponent

X-wing is a situational game, so it is easy to come up with times when the Jamming Beam is not worth while. The argument that someone can just use a Focus or Evade on the dice to avoid the Tractor Beam can make sense...unless you are firing at someone who doesn't have any. Or....someone with a low Agility and you roll high enough that even a Focus or Evade won't cause a miss. How many people take 3 Agility ships these days? There are a ton that don't have Agility that high. If you have some sort of reroll from Focus, TL, Predator, Dengar, or even Linked Cannons, then it's worth it. Not everyone can avoid the 3 die attack.

I've noticed that most tournament lists have only 2-3 ships in it. Action Economy is key in this game. If you are able to hit one ship and disrupt that action economy...you are doing great! It also hurts those that pass around tokens to each other as you lose it no matter where it comes from.

Unless you are trying to barrel roll your target, Tractor Beam needs to be fired ahead of other shots to be worth it. Jamming Beam is good no matter when you are firing due to the effect carrying over.

I remember people saying Tractor Beam wasn't going to be worth it ever as it didn't do damage.

And it almost never is. Only on TIE/Ds, really. The only tractoring effects in common use are Ketsu and the Shadow Caster title.

Jamming Beam on TIE/D is very powerful, but Ion is better.

I'd like to run them in pairs...

Nu Squadron Pilot — Alpha-class Star Wing 18
Ship Total: 18
Nu Squadron Pilot — Alpha-class Star Wing 18
Ship Total: 18
Delta Squadron Pilot — TIE Defender 30
Jamming Beam 1
TIE/D 0
Ship Total: 31
Delta Squadron Pilot — TIE Defender 30
Ion Cannon 3
TIE/D 0
Ship Total: 33

What about on Dash? That turret tractor is clearly OP. ;)

I think that if B-wings weren't so disproportionately priced Ten Numb would be perfect with a tractor.

I'd love to try a Jamming/Flechette/Ion combo. There's nothing better to shut down small-based ships.

It's called "you don't get to play."

No, that's playing against RAC(Kylo+Palp) with Colzet escort with a Ghost and Dash. I did that on the weekend - twice. It was not fun...
