Does the new FAQ fix/change Hor Shot Co-pilot so the focus token being spent is NOT used to modify dice?

ie: I attack you; you have Hot Shot; I must spend a focus token but it cannot be used to modify my attack.

The token could be spent for the standard dice modification effect, or another effect like Calculation or Weapons Guidance. The main thing the FAQ specifies is the timing required to spend the token.
