Gunner, Original Core Set Blinded Pilot and Hot Shot Copilot

By AngryAlbatross, in X-Wing Rules Questions

This is a very obscure case but I am interested to know the solution. This is how I imagine the sequence happening, please tell me if I am wrong.

A ship with Gunner and Hotshot Copilot gets a Blinded Pilot crit (FROM THE ORIGINAL CORE SET) from RACLO before it fires. It then attacks, rolls no attack dice, Hotshot Triggers, the attack misses, Blinded Pilot flips facedown, Gunner Triggers, 2nd attack completes as normal rolling full dice.

The real question is, does Hot shot Copilot trigger even though there are no attack dice? I think it does because it is still an attack that goes thru the whole attack sequence, then misses.

Hotshot Co-Pilot triggers regardless of the number of dice.

This. Plus, it triggers a second time on the second, "Gunner" based attack (if they had a second focus token for any number of reasons).

The big notable difference between Blinded Pilot from the original core set damage deck, and the TFA 2.0 Damage Deck is that the first requires you perform a pointless attack, with all the good and bad things that come from that (Gunner! Fire Control System! Dengar revenge shot!)... while the second simply robs you of one opportunity to fire.
