Scum first purchases?

I'm more casual than anything, although Regionals is coming up soon and it's my first major tournament...

Eh...dengar is still exceptional

He's just not exceptionally ******

Yup, he's great I don't disagree. The named shadowcaster pilots are also exceptional.

Not sure. I think situationally Asajj or Ketsu deliver just as well or better. Depends on the list and play style I suppose. Dengar is pretty decent still just not the best.

I would say if you already have the Rebel/Imperial ships then get Most Wanted.

Then get the Scurrg.

6 Quadjumpers to rule them all!

But really, start with Most Wanted, a HWK-290, a Jumpmaster and a Scurrg. That will give you a good start.

Between Harpoons and Scramblers, Scum gives me some great tools for my GUNBOATS...

Shadow Caster is good, but doesn't have very good builds as far as I can find.

Does anyone have effective builds?

I'v been flying all the Scum ships since I strated in March (except for the JM5K) and the only one I don't like is the clunky HWK-290.

Misthunter: I have won the last 3 casual games that had a Misthunter, yesterday's game had 2 Misthunters (4-LOM & Ruthless Freelancer and a YV-666-Trandoshan Slaver, lots of stressing and each ship had a Black Market Slicer Tool). Next game I will tweek the list to upgrade from the PS3 Ruthless Freelancer to the PS5 Gand Findsman.

Now that Mindlink is "gone"?
PTL Ventress with Rau and Palob or something like that … this is using the unreleased Linked Battery for Sunny Bounders ability. You may sprinkle to taste and remove Latts for k4. If you take k4, you might take VI instead of PTL, or go all out with expertise and k4. All those builds are interesting, personal style and local meta relevant. :)

Asajj Ventress (37)
Push the Limit (3)
Latts Razzi (2)
Engine Upgrade (4)

Fenn Rau (28)
Push the Limit (3)
Autothrusters (2)
Concord Dawn Protector (1)

Sunny Bounder (14)
Linked Battery (2)
"Heavy Scyk" Interceptor (Cannon) (2)

Total: 98

With the Attani nerf, actually something like this might work as well:

Asajj Ventress (37)
Attanni Mindlink (1)
Latts Razzi (2)

Fenn Rau (28)
Fearlessness (1)
Autothrusters (2)
Concord Dawn Protector (1)

Palob Godalhi (20)
Attanni Mindlink (1)
Twin Laser Turret (6)

Total: 99

It's most certainly weaker than the triple attani lists, mainly Fenn Rau got weaker, because a defensive focus is really missed on those range 1 shots if he had to boost into range. Meanwhile offensively Fearlessness is just as good when you get the R1 shots and completely useless otherwise.

Ketsu + VI + K4 security + title + glitterstim complements Dengar or Bossk nicely. Set up the tractors to make it a softer target then hammer down.

Asajj + PTL + Latts is still a tank ship. She's good, and can be seasoned to taste.

I love 'Casters, specifically because they allow for so many viable builds.

This Ketsu is a veritable murdermachine if paired with Squadmates that have PS 7 or less.

Ketsu Onyo (53)
Lancer-class Pursuit Craft (38), Fearlessness (1), Dengar (3), Glitterstim (2), Glitterstim (2), Shadow Caster (3), Engine Upgrade (4)

Headbutt small-based bads, nudge them with Ketsu's Pilot ability, give 'em a full frontal of 4 dice +1hit. Then give'em their second -1 agility from the Shadow Caster tractor token.

Or swap Fearlessness for VI and Dengar for K4 and run her thick with a lean Rage/Inspiring Recruit/Punishing One Dengar as her squadmate. Ketsu Sets 'em up, Dengar knocks 'em down.

Asajj builds for me are more or less "add Latts, season to taste." She's extremely versatile and quite a hard target.
