Milton, ON - Grayskull Through November

By LagJanson, in X-Wing Organized Play

Milton - Untouchables

We'll be doing a mission/round a night of the Assault on Grayskull campaign on Tuesday nights between 6-9pm. First round will begin November 14th and will then proceed weekly. Registration will begin (unofficially, now) on November 7th until the 12th. Please create your 250 point hangar roster and send it to me before Noon on the 12th so I can check it and have things ready for the 14th. Rules and roster sheet can be downloaded through Shuttle Tydirium's google drive (link in the quoted thread) - I'll be in store to answer questions on the 7th.

I will be acting judge throughout, but will have a 'mercenary' list on hand in case of odd number of players during a round. I may also pull out some video equipment to throw a match up on youtube for the heck of it. Registration is free, but I'll see if I can dig up something for prizes anyway - I have a few extra FFG alt-arts and some 3rd party acrylics.

I'm going to revise my close date to noon November 12th to give me time to do the draft and notify players appropriately. We have players but still room for more. PM me if interested.

The Rebellion needs you !

First round is complete, and it's a dark time for the Rebellion. While the games were a lot closer than they appeared, the Rebels didn't manage to keep any points that they scored. Currently the Empire is winning 370-0.

2nd round complete. Still accepting drop in flights. The Empire remains strong against the Rebellion. I believe the scores after 2 rounds are 722-72.

The attempt to rescue Col Bowlin has failed, and he's been transported to an Imperial Detainment Facility for interrogation.

The battle resumes on Tuesday, December 5th.

Casualties Report

  • Ten Numb

And because the Shuttle Tydirium is not getting results reported back... @heychadwick @Babaganoosh @Biff

Why do you think the Rebels are hurting?

I have theories. One of the main reasons though is with a smaller group losses are by far less forgiving for the side. It's so easy to have a point total reduced to zero. It's something I noticed on Vassal as well. My opponent for mission 3B and I had an epic fight, leaving me with two ships after the final round of fire... each at PS0 and 1 hull... The score was 340-0 for me. Yes, it was a victory for me, but the score didn't at all reflect how close a game it was. In our local games, the Rebels have been kept at zero points a lot.

So, Grayskull has come to a close, and the Imperials won a much closer game in the finale. It may have tilted more given more time, but the Rebels may have been able to score some big points as well with more time.

  • Imperials and Rebels each scored similar kills - Imperials killed bigger value targets and one more ship
  • Rebels got a shuttle off the map safely so scored some much needed points (those were near impossible to stop getting off the map)
  • The TIE Defenders (4 in total) were getting sandblasted over time. While none had died, three were into hull damage.
  • Turrets were effective but Imperials spent more time focusing them down than on the Vassal run
  • It was a fun run where people have expressed interest in running another pass down the road

Some issues did present themselves in this final mission though... Getting all players present for the final 2 vs 2 mission was a bugger. Eventually we got it. This would likely be less a factor with a larger crowd of players where you could drop and change out players. Also, it's a long mission which is hard to get completed in a normal game night. We didn't get off to as quick a start as intended but I think that may have got us only another two turns maximum.

Good job @heychadwick , @Babaganoosh , @Biff and JBot. It's held up as being interesting through three passes for me.

Thanks for the details. Glad you had fun.
