Fleet help for Saturday

By Berosin, in Star Wars: Armada Fleet Builds

Hello all! I have my first organized tournament coming up on Saturday, should be a small gathering but I still want to be competitive. So here is my current build, any advice would be welcome! I'm not so sure on my objectives, most wanted is always a solid choice, but I'm not so sure about the other two.

Reikkan Swarm V1 399/400

MC30 Torpedo Frigate:

  • General Reikkan

  • Skilled First Officer

  • Ordnance Experts

  • ACM

  • H-9 Turbolasers

  • Admonition

CR90A:

  • TRC's

  • Jaina's Light

CR90B:

  • SW-7

CR90B

  • SW-7

GR75

  • Toryn Farr

  • Bright Hope

GR75

  • Comms Net

Squadrons:

  • Biggs Darklighter

  • Jan Ors

  • X-Wing x4

Objectives:

  • Most Wanted

  • Hyperspace Assault

  • Dangerous Territory

Looks like a great list. My only comment is maybe pop reikeen on janias light as that is very effective at staying at long range and also running off when it needs to with that title.

Although your mc30 definetly can take plenty of punishment with that title, it'll be stuck in the fight and youll be at risk of losing your commander. Also, with your commander and your heavy hitter being the same 4 hull target, it seems like its got a 'please focus on me sign'. The more targets and options you're giving your opponent, the more likely theyll mess up

Not bad. Just put Rieekan on Jaina's Light.

With him I would have fielded more unique squadrons, to maximize his feat.

That's a good point! Thank you! I've had problems with getting Jaina's Light popped early before, but that's more a result of poor navigation than anything else. I'll definitely think about shifting Reikkan over there.

You have a point, with that being said do you think Mothma or Madine would be a better choice for this list?

@Berosin maybe even cracken

With him I could cut Toryn Farr and Bright Hope and turn those two CR90B's into TRC90's. Make it more of a long range harassing force instead of so up close and personal.

For me if you go full mc30/cr90/hh, Mon Mothma is the best choice.

But Rieekan would make sense if you can field like 5-6 unique squadrons

Sounds good. Its ups both your offenses and defenses from your previous list really

Say Biggs, Wedge, Shara , Jan, and two generic x-wings?

That's a good point, I'll just have to decide between the more ace heavy list and this more long range list! :)

Just a quick tip on Biggs in case you didn't know...

When Biggs dies and you use Rieekan on him, always suck up as much damage as possible onto him, he can basically take an infinite amount of damage due to the zombie effect.

Why not. Even Rogue Squadron, as it's unique as well.

Rieekan-Biggs is quite a monstrous combo, I agree :)

Wedge I usually play him together with Dutch, but why not.

Lol i read "Rieekan Swarm V1" and my first thought was of the list i made under a similar premise:

Rieekan MSU (396/400)
====================
CR90 Corvette A (44 + 37)
+ General Rieekan (30)
+ Turbolaser Reroute Circuits (7)
CR90 Corvette A (44 + 7)
+ Turbolaser Reroute Circuits (7)
CR90 Corvette A (44 + 7)
+ Turbolaser Reroute Circuits (7)
Hammerhead Scout Corvette (41 + 9)
+ Slaved Turrets (6)
+ Task Force Antilles (3)
Hammerhead Scout Corvette (41 + 9)
+ Slaved Turrets (6)
+ Task Force Antilles (3)
Hammerhead Scout Corvette (41 + 9)
+ Slaved Turrets (6)
+ Task Force Antilles (3)
4 x X-wing Squadron (13)
A-wing Squadron (11)

And:

Rieekan MSU 2 (395/400)
======================
CR90 Corvette A (44 + 37)
+ General Rieekan (30)
+ Turbolaser Reroute Circuits (7)
CR90 Corvette A (44 + 7)
+ Turbolaser Reroute Circuits (7)
CR90 Corvette A (44 + 7)
+ Turbolaser Reroute Circuits (7)
Hammerhead Torpedo Corvette (36 + 6)
+ External Racks (3)
+ Task Force Antilles (3)
Hammerhead Torpedo Corvette (36 + 6)
+ External Racks (3)
+ Task Force Antilles (3)
Hammerhead Torpedo Corvette (36 + 6)
+ External Racks (3)
+ Task Force Antilles (3)
Hammerhead Torpedo Corvette (36 + 6)
+ External Racks (3)
+ Task Force Antilles (3)
4 x A-wing Squadron (11)

But...... then i really thought about it and decided to switch to Mon Mothma :)

If you run corvette b's i would steer toward mon mothma. They are too easy to kill at their effective range without her, making you get stuck with tough choices to either Rieekan one of them, or save it in case something else dies that turn.

If you swap for 90A's I think Rieekan is a good choice. Also, why not APT if you are scraping for points.

I disagree that Rieekan post nerf wants lots of aces. Imo its very rare now that you will want to use his ability on a squadron. Even the biggs trick isnt worth sacrificing wedge or luke (the only other escort aces) because they are so many points and then all your ships are vulnerable. Rogue Squadron loses escort so he is not a viable Biggs target.

Biggs and generic x's works cause biggs can sacrifice himself (as the cheapest xwing ace) against a sloane swarm to keep the generics alive through the alpha so they can counter attack. Thats about the only time I would Rieekan Biggs.

Heyho,

I thought the setup yesterday was good. As to what Broba said: yes there are risks but the dmg output of the CR90Bs was super solid and it won you the game in the end. Without the other guy bringing ruthless strategist your squadron blob will do even better.

You know that was my conclusion as well from my game with Doppleganger yesterday, I had Biggs/Wedge/Jan/X-wing x3, and the Zombie Biggs trick was great. But when it came to zombie Wedge, all he did was get in one attack he wouldn't have already anyway. Maybe if I'd protected Biggs better, and moved damage to Zombie Wedge, but that's about all I can think of. Overall I'm considering replacing him with a generic and putting those extra points somewhere else.

Hey! Thanks for the input :)

I'm definitely still leaning towards Riekkan and the B's. Like you said, solid damage output, and as someone on Reddit mentioned Boarding Troopers/Avengers ISDs. Depending on the rest of their fleet comp I'm not sure I can kill one easily, but I could definitely park a B in his front arc and stall him for a turn with a zombie corvette. 44 points to keep his biggest hitter sitting stuck while the rest of my fleet cleans up his flotillas/Glads sounds like a good exchange to me!
