Nope. Bad news. Why bother producing and more physical models?

Didn't we already discuss FFI in another thread?

Because people still like playing with them? They're not going to force you to switch to digital. Rather, they'd make more money selling both.

also disney already has partnerships for digital star wars, ffg will not be allowed to

It’s this, I’m afraid; a careful reading of the announcement suggests they’re using ffg’s own IP for ffi, which is by definition not licensed properties. If we get any implementation of the armada rules for the platform it will be set in the twilight imperium universe...

I've seen some people think this is a way to force Vassal and TTS to get rid of Armada and X-Wing.

Unless there's crowding out.

Ugh yeah I forgot about this - I believe EA has the monopoly on digital rights to the SW universe :(

You guys do remember this is a thing, right?

Okay so it might not be for more hybrid mobile/tabletop games. So what else could it be?

  • Tabletop game apps, after the disaster that was TOME FFG could decide it needed a more committed branch for any more projects to span all of OP games.
  • FFG licensed video games. Okay now tell me you don't want a Twilight Imperium RTS or to see an Android videogame? Such things would be awesome. Now it might not be the open world loot crate multiplayer arena games of the AAA industry. But a smaller indie title taking place in say Runebound or Android or TI would be awesome.
  • 3rd party licensed video games. Okay Warhammer is out (besides Total War and BFG is doing great without any help) . I don't think there will be too many SW games and WB just put out a LotR game and they are keeping it. Which leaves Game of Thrones (although I would prefer L5R), and Arkham/Lovecraft games.

So those are 3 possible avenues for projects coming from FFIS.
