C3PO and Blanks

By Vineheart01, in Star Wars: Destiny

I have a Hera deck with C3PO in it (primarily to force one of my dice into a focus to get her special out on both dice or use it on a high value die from the vehicles for monies) and a thought crossed my mind. I didnt do it because it sounded uber sketchy and decided to consult the faq afterwords...i didnt see anything about it.

Blanks and specials are considered a value of 0. C3PO does not specify non-blank. Does this mean he can resolve a blank as if it were showing a special? Hes resolving it as if it were showing a different face so "cannot resolve a blank" doesnt come into play here, but the "value of 0" does.

He sure can! Also, C-3PO can resolve a blank as any side - for example, make it act like zero melee damage to remove an opponent’s Hunker Down for example.

Acually with Hunker Down the damage has to be dealt. Which means the shields you get from Hunker Down can actually keep the card in the game.

I meant if they don’t have any shields. I could be wrong, but I don’t see anywhere in the rules it saying that you can’t deal or take zero damage.

Hm. My assumption is that since no damage tokens were added then no melee damage was done, therefore no removal of the upgrade, but I could be wrong.

Yeah, I really don’t know either. Maybe I shouldn’t have brought it up... I was always under the assumption that this was allowed, but then we debated it during Spirit of Rebellion, and it was never clarified for sure.

Yeah, one of those mysteries.

But back to C3P0, so we don’t derail this too far, the combo I’ve heard of is resolving Rocket Launcher’s special for free off of its blanks, which would be terrifying to behold.

Eh ive gotten plenty of free rocket launchers with my phasma deck using imperial hqs lol (oh look, both my rocket launchers roll 4 with a resource... *taptap* 8 damage even though i had no monies)

The more i play the more i realize C3PO is ridiculous. This just adds icing to the cake apparently. I've gotten to the point where unless im playing a specifically tailored low action deck hes in my deck lol. The ability to turn 1 good die into a focus to make 3-4 good dice is amazing, and i dont care what he rolled either.

Getting a 3-4 focus dice is amazing. One time I was playing Quinlan/Asajj and used Power of the Force on Asajj’s 1 focus to make it a 5 focus. The next round I resolved 6-7 specials, including cards like Temptation, Psychometry, Mind Probe, and Quinlan. That turn devistated my opponent.

Or monies.

Which in my Hera deck is usually what hes doing if i didnt use him to get the vehicles out. Had one game where i had the Falcon, Ghost, and 1 Uwing paid for by turn 2 because i started with C3PO, Falcon, and Reckless Re-Entry in my hand and just happened to draw the other 2 next round lol.

Free-play falcon, it rolls a 4 damage, C3PO it to 4 resources. Reckless Re-Entry it and it rolls its normal 2resource face. Got 2 resources from my character dice that round. End of round i have 10 resources....
Drew the other two. Played falcon normally, rolled 4 damage again, C3PO'd it again and played both the Ghost/Uwing lol. My opponent was like WHAT THE F$*$*????

The epitome of my deck going my way...lol... usually it refuses to give me my vehicles not give them to me outright AND a way to use them

C3-PO can use a blank but doesn't change it's value. So it can only use a blank if it has a special on it's die. A rocket launcher is fantastic for this.

To help understand C-3PO, as I explained in a previous post:

-A blank can be read like this: 0 - Blank

-C3-PO can replace the symbol Blank (Yes blank is a symbol) with a special

-It then becomes: 0 - Special

-Since special don't need need numbers next to them in order to work, you can resolve a the special.
