More Card Spoilers

By ElSuave, in Legend of the Five Rings: The Card Game

I mean, do you currently play Imperial Storehouses? Take out your three weakest Dynasty cards, three weakest Conflict cards, run storehouses and Kachiko. Now you're deck's stronger, more consistent, and runs parity (on average) when playing Kachiko.

It's just one card, and a strong one at that. The impact from her is probably going to be worth more than one card from your conflict deck.

Shoju doesn't have this problem. If he's dishonored he's still a powerhouse and province breaker. His ability doesn't care if he's dishonored. Neither does Tsukune's, or Altansarnai's. Kachiko is pretty unique in her ability caring what her stats are making her especially susceptible to being dishonored.

Yokuni's does.

(If he's copying Kachiko's ability.)

(Sorry, just kidding around there...)

I just realized... the turn you are playing Kachiko, you are auto getting the extra fate for the first pass. :D

I for one welcome all the people looking to play non-dishonor Scorpion in order to make Kachiko "work" in a way that isn't cripplingly awkward or leaves you mad behind by default. Then again, I can imagine that Scorpions that draw a lot can do pretty well against Not-Dishonor.

If you have 4 dynasty cards, and 4 cards in hand, and you want to bid high and dump your hand for actions and characters rather than utilize those dynasty cards, that's your choice... I doubt it will get you far. Go ahead and try that style, see how it comes back...

None of that overcomes the fact that 3 Glory is a liability for Scorpion, especially on a courtier. It doesn't stop her ability from referencing her POL meaning being dishonored kills her ability And her stats.

Fine, don't play with her, I only stopped by this thread to see if there were actually any new spoilers.

It's been pretty dry so far but we're still early in the week. Since Pack 3 was already spoiled- I think the leakers wanna wait it out a little bit before spoiling what little left there is.

Honestly, I think there've been too may spoilers. Am I crazy in still wanting there to be a surprise when I crack the pack open?

Hey, FFG... next cycle, no spoilers. Whaddaya think? Except maybe for card art . That'd still be cool.

Kachiko's very existence helps Scorpion players. Once these high cost cards hit the collection, people playing against Scorpion have to be wary any time their foe gets a bunch of fate. If my opponent is sitting on 5 fate, I have to play as if Kachiko might hit the table, even if she's not in their deck. Heck I have to account for it at 3 fate considering Ambush.

The fact that Scorpion players can now sit on 5 fate as a bluff is itself pretty strong.

Absolutely not. At first, I was really excited about spoilers especially those 4chan pictures shwoing everything in a pack. But after buying For Honor and Glory, i realized I'm missing the excitement from opening and not knowing what 'll get. So, I'll try to avoid as many spoilers as possible for the rest of this cycle.

Trust me, I agree that there have been way too many. There are even spoilers that I refuse to post regarding Set 2 and the first big box expansions because that would just ruin the fun factor. This is all info from the supposed leakers, so even the info I have may still be made up until we get to that point, but so far every leak that was "fake news" has turned out true so far.

Big box and second set info?! Yeesh FFG needs to hire the little dutch boy to start plugging these leaks.

I heard that in play test, the Unicorn water mark looked like the horn was a big middle finger but then they fixed it................oh nevermind looks like it made it through after all.

To be fair, a lot of the spoilers were leaks rather than promoted spoilers from FFG.

Moto Juro? :P I wouldn't mind an early spoil/leak of the "Better than the Champion".

I don't think you're crazy but I'm also not really looking forward to something like that. I've already dealt with 2 packs that I just don't need the cards in for my decks and finding that out after I open a pack would be rather disheartening. That said the idea of no more leaks holds a bit more promise but even then I like speculating about if X new card will be usable in my deck and the earlier the spoiler happens the earlier I can enjoy that. Guess I'm just weird that way. :)

Dragon has been pretty disappointing seeing bits of tech that are ultimately pointless until Stone of Sorrows hits.

so...

are crane ever going to get another named duelist? or even another generic duelist?

crane are kind of known for dueling. but everything i keep seeing in spoilers is just more artisans and courtiers. still got a few sets to go i guess. someone who has seen all the upcoming stuff please give me some hope.

also just cards which start or modify duels? really just anything to do with duels. the lack of support for them in crane is just strange. not counting the crane seal.

Edited by Tebbo

I mean, considering that there are 4 duels in the game right now, 2 of them are crane, and a third is a neutral event, I don't think crane has much right to complain about not getting duel tech. Crane got Kakita blade, which is a huge bump for dueling. Crane has stuff that actually uses the duelist trait and a seal that hands it out.

Right now if dragon (the OTHER clan known for dueling) wants to build a duel deck, we HAVE to splash crane (I mean, granted, when we do we still do it better than crane with their own toys, so that's amusing), but crane can just build a duel deck.

Also, yes crane is known for dueling, but you know what else crane is known for? Artisans and courtiers. This is the imperial cycle. A cycle heavily focused on crap going down in and around the imperial court. Every clan is getting a magistrate, the big names that get cards are all names associated with the imperial court. I would honestly be surprised if there were anywhere near as many crane duelists hanging around the imperial court as there are crane artisans and courtiers. Especially when crap is going down in toshi ranbo between the lion and the crane at more or less the same time, so the skilled warriors (such as the duelists) get sent to the military conflict over there (which is not the current focus right not, but is more of a side plot in the background), and the artisans and courtiers go to court to petition the empire to side with them as much as possible, and since the camera is on the court, guess who gets the screen time?

I'm afraid my tone may come off as more antagonistic than I intend, and if that is the case, I apologize, I was going more for playfully snarky, but this might lean too heavily on the snark and not enough on the play, unfortunately at this point in time I can't come up with a nicer way to get my point across without getting extremely rambly and wishy washy, so I'm sticking with this and hoping I don't upset anybody or hurt anyone's feelings.

For those of us that do want the spoilers, where would we find such a thing?

Is there even a full spoiler of Into the Forbidden City online yet?

People keep mentioning 4chan, but I can't navigate that stupid site.

I get it but I also don't. There isn't enough to make it a main theme. Raitsugu is Dragon so without him we still have just two 'duelists' and only one who can actually duel. Kaezin is also just awful thematically and shouldn't exist.

The neutral duel is political. One path to dueling is an attachment ie: slow. One event looks for the duelist keyword.

I don't buy the imperial focus of the set as an excuse. there are plenty of cards which fall outside that. dueling also thematically fits very well with a focus on courtly maneuvering and appearances in the eyes of the emperor.

so has it gotten better? sure. but it's still behind for something which is a main theme for the clan. regardless my point was about the future. we all have things we hope to see for our favorite clan.

No - there isn't enough to make it a main theme. We have a core set and less than a full set of expansions. Be patient.

Kakita Blade is a great duelist action for a game without a lot of support for duelists because it pulls double duty giving a constant boost to MIL. As dueling is expanded we'll see better support cards for it as well.

I don't know if I would say Dueling is the main theme of the Crane clan. It certainly is a main theme, but not the main theme. The focus for this pack is on imperials, which seems to specifically mean Magistrates - as almost every big personality released in these sets has been a Magistrate, if not Imperial. For a big name card, and an Imperial card the Crane are getting Yoshi right now. He could never be tooled as s duelist. Give them time - I'm sure Toshimoko is coming soon.

ps - I don't think Dragon do dueling better than Crane. Dragon probably win duels better than Crane, but Crane don't have to splash to Dragon to duel, and can win by dueling for honor easier than Dragon can. Especially with Way of the Chrysanthemum I'm looking for a Crane Dueling / Honor deck to make a presence.
