This isnt nearly as good as the spoiled dynasty magistrate. Its a niche hate card for low honor clans. How ofter do you have a dishonored dude and think "If only he was debuffed more...".

I don't know if I'd say better. The Scorpion magistrate affects dishonored characters, which means you've used an action and possibly a card to get them there. Dishonored is also already a debuff, so you're really just debuffing them more.

The thing I find when going against scorpion dishonor is that you can't really fight them by trying to rehonor unless you're crane. You get court games and then you generally have to fight through with skill buffs......which this guy would then negate.

So many games where I swing in with a high-glory character. They go, "court games." "I counter-court-games to rehonor." "Way of the scorpion." "FINE." I can't keep up with the Way of the Scorpion!

At least, not yet.....

The new Scorpion magistrate risks you shutting down your own guys with Forged Edict and Calling in Favors.

My Phoenix characters tend to have 0 skill when Dishonoured due to their high Glory, so I can't see the Scorpion Magistrate hurting us any more than Scorpion already do anyway. Seems like it will hurt their own characters more.

I know Unicorn are taking a hammering, but it feels like their Magistrate is still the best of those spoiled so far.

Well, he is a 3 cost conflict character. so even if he has a slightly better ability, it's still a three cost conflict card. I'll take the Unicorn Magistrate over the Scorpion.

The Scorpion Magistrate gets more points because he's in the conflict instead of the dynasty. The other magistrates you see coming and can prepare for. This guy can drop in on an army of dishonoured personalities and make them irrelevant.

the crab guy is by far the best with shutting down 2 costs on the defense.

Add in the “discard imperial” abilities and I think this all makes for tough choices, and great game design.

My speculation is that it will discard to put a spell from discard into hand, and make spells cost less this turn, similar to the Crane character. A little more narrow, but also more reliable. But that's just speculation.
