Can anyone read the Policy Debate card?

You can click to zoom in. It is a 0-cost neutral event. During a conflict, choose two participating characters (one yours, one an opponents). Those characters do a political duel. Winner gets to choose and discard a card from loser's hand.

Those Phoenix cards are doooope.

In addition to the honor exchange......should make anyone liking to do political honor/dishonor tricks happy.

I dunno. It's cute, but you're going down a card as well. Good tool for scorpion, I guess, or any deck pressuring dishonor. Can't afford to bid high, don't have tons of cards to spare if you lose.

I zoom in the cards, but then it gets too blurry for my screen. Could someone give exact text on the Lion guy? I know it's some form of double charge, but that's it.

5 Fate

Ikoma Ujiaki (unique) - 3 Mil 5 Pol 2 Glory

Bushi. Courtier.

Action: While this character is participating in a conflict, discard the imperial favor - turn each facedown card in your provinces faceup. Then put up to 2 characters from your provinces into play participating in this conflict.

"I remember."

On steroids. You discard the favor the flip all cards in your provinces face up, then double charge. You need the guy in the conflict, but it can be POL.

That guy working Political is insult to injury. Guess I'll be playing a lot of Lion

Thanks much! Do you have the Crab dynasty card? (#21) #23

Not me. Found the link on 4chan.

Is it me or is that Lion attachment is bonkers...?

Just you. It costs 2 mana. Really steep price.

Would be different if they were seeker, now it's a dragon card

Worth splashing into Unicorn for, if you're playing the Giver of Gifts. Just keep passing that 2-coster around :D

The effect is cool, but ultimately something your opponent controls. Moreover, bow effects tend to cost 1. So paying 2 for something that isn't even in your complete control is rough. Really need that card to stick around multiple turns to ensure it gives you value via bowing or at the very least works as a Cloud lite over multiple turns.

Yes but you're also paying 2 fate because it gives you +3 Military as an attachment. Your opponent having control over the trigger doesn't necessarily mean the opponent has the best answer to it every time. It forces your opponent to commit a different character that they would've used for a different conflict or it forces them to bow a character they would prefer not to be bowed. The cost is pretty fair for the benefits it gives you.

Yes. Yes it does =]

Finally, a card in the set that I can actually put into my Scorp Hard pile!

Saying that, I just read Magnificent Lighthouse for Pheonix, and that is an awesome Holding. Especially cause it never specifies that you have to pick a particular deck to rig for them... I reckon Pheonix could definitely field a dirty hand control/dishonor deck once the dust settles on Tears...

Ujiaki is real \o/

Bid 5 against Lion, are you sure?

Way of Crysanthemum + contingency plan, Imoma prodigy/akodo gunso/venerable historian/honored blade.

I think is possible win by honor in first turn.

I've gotta check this out

Anyone else notice the strong synergy between the policy debate and the kakita blade?

However, I actually like that combo for the dragon control deck that's been going around lately, some people were already talking a crane splash for that, and policy debate does effectively the same thing as kitsuki investigator to the loser, and putting the kakita blade on mirumoto raitsugu seems really strong, potentially allowing the build to not only pressure econ, dishonor, conflict resources, but now honor too. And here I thought I was having a tough time choosing what to put in my conflict deck now!

I like those Scorpion cards.

Combo that attachment with Smoke and Mirrors and you might get some neat mind-games.

yeah, no kidding. It would probably be worth attaching to scorpion characters just to give them that shinobi trait.

Looks like they answered my call for Shrine Maidens! It's at a great price, low low influence cost, reasonable stats, potential to draw multiple cards, and could fit into either shugenja, monk, or Kiho-based decks. There are not enough spells or kiho to abuse it completely but I'd imagine that in the right deck that this just straight up draws 2 or 3 cards each time.

Policy Debate looks like a new POL stable so expect to see it pop up everywhere.

Bayushi Yojiro also looks interesting if you want to either abuse the dishonored status on your guys or potentially shrink a Hotaru.

I suppose I'm a little surprised that Ikoma Ujiaki doesn't have the Imperial trait on him. Hmmmm, maybe so you can abuse the rumored Imperial stronghold?

The two Unicorn cards are your typical Unicorn reveals.

Not sure of the Seals yet. The main use for them would be on Conflict characters, but I haven't seen many I would want to splash in.

This seems like a pretty meh pack for Crab. I've had turns where Stoic Magistrate's effect would have been useful, but they don't come up enough to include him over other things.

Seal of the Scorpion is a nice counter to Way of the Scorpion and I really like Political Debate.

Obviously Lion and Phoenix made out like bandits.

Edit: Just want to make sure I understand the RR section on the word 'Then'. If there are no face down cards in provinces Ujiaki's ability can't resolve correct?
