I can see the rules for how stances work in story mode, but after flipping through the rulebook, I don't see a clear set of rules for how they work in story mode. Can anyone provide enlightenment on this topic?
Stances in Story Mode?
If you can justify having your character in a stance during story mode then he is allowed to roll stance dice. If the Troll Slayer is raging and flipping out and gnawing on his axe because the a fat merchant just told him to shove off. Then it's reasonable to have him a level or two into the red.
In general, story mode is done in neutral stance. However, as mentioned, the GM can allow stance dice based on roleplaying. Typically, I limit this to 1 die in either direction unless the player provides a good rp and argument for an increased stance.
Normally players are in neutral stance durring story mode I believe and start in neutral in round one of an encounter. I personally do allow ONE stance die to be used in story mode and for non combat rolls if the player gives me a resonable reason.
Ditto.
They'd need a really good reason to get me to allow more than one stance die for story encounter rolls.
Thank you all! I came across the ruling in the errata, so I'm sorry to have wasted your time. I'll check there first in the future,

Don't worry about it. By asking here you can get the official rule along with any house rules that you may or may not prefer.
