Figures from Runewars...

By meggypeggs, in Talisman

Having just purchased Runewars last week and looked at all the components, I have noticed that the grey hero figures in the box are similar size to that of the figures from Talisman…

Has anyone noticed this too, and if so I was hoping someone could make the card profiles to go with them… gran_risa.gif

The hero characters from Runewars are apparently the same ones from the base games of Runebound and Descent. All of the heroes in these games and expansions are of the same scale.

Interesting.... when you feel like it, tell us how the game plays. Also, what do you mean by "card profiles?"

The game is fantastic although we have only played 3 games...it does leave you wanting to play again.

Sorry if I confused anyone about card profiles...I mean the stat/info sheets of the Talisman characters...

And sorry as I didnt know of the other games that had characters with similar sized characters to Talisman...I only have a few of the games/expansions and thought I would mention it in case we could take advantage of it...

It would be pretty cool to have some alternate characters to use, and there are quite a few to choose from. I don't have any of the "Terrinoth" franchise miniatures, otherwise I would probably have had a go already! happy.gif

There's a lot of cross over between Runebound and Descent characters, Descent actually has several more. I'm not sure about RuneWars, but pretty curious about it! We're using some of the those figs for NPC's in Talisman!

Runebound and Descent actually both have all the same hero figures between them, if you own the relevant expansions to each and/or have the four promo figs (who come with cards for each of these games.) There are, by my count, 32 heroes and 4 promo heroes in total, so there's certainly a lot of options for making homebrew Talisman characters out of them!

Edit: I just realized the 6 heroes from Well of Darkness came from Drakon and not a RB expansion, so Descent does actually have more heroes, technically. My bad.

Runewars only has 12 of these heroes currently (the same 12 that shipped with the base Runebound, if memory serves.) Those of us who do follow the Terrinoth games will likely not be surprised if more of those other heroes make an appearance in RW once it starts cranking out expansions. FFG has already announced plans to distribute RW hero cards for the 4 promo figs at the upcoming Realms of Terrinoth convention. How the rest of us will get them remains to be seen. =)

It might sound like a rip off that FFG is using the same molds for three different games, but I don't mind that much myself. It connects the games in a very physical way, and it also provides me with replacement parts in case of child/dog/accident damaging some of them. Also, I only have to paint one set of heroes to have 3 very colourful games. =)

I was actually going to try and find that information. I have recently caved in and bought into the Runebound line, and was looking to see if there were any heroes that I would not have.

I heard that there were some Descent figures that did not appear in RB, but it seems these are from Drakon so I will be looking to pick up that game (I was anyway!) and then cobble together something about those for RB.

Is there a definitive list of the miniatures used anywhere?

I might be of some help.

I didn't know about Drakon and I was surprised that 3 out of 6 heroes actually appear on Descent box art! I always thought that those 6 heroes have been separately developed, mostly because Kevin Wilson said that the barbarian-like Hero Nanok of the Blade was inspired by his historical D&D Playing Character.

So these are the Heroes and miniatures:

16x Descent base set (* included in Runebound base set, + included in Runebound Island of Dread Expansion)

Andira Runehand+

Battlemage Jaes*

Bogran the Shadow*

Grey Ker+

Ispher+

Landrec the Wise+

Lyssa (of the East)+

Mad Carthos*

Mordrog*

One Fist*

Red Scorpion*

Ronan of the Wild*

Runewitch Astarra*

Silhouette*

Sir Valadir*

Spiritspeaker Mok*

Steelhorns+

Trenloe the Strong+

Varikas the Dead*

Vyrah the Falconer+

6x Descent the Well of Darkness Expansion

Brother Glyr

Nanok of the Blade

Laurel of Blackwood

Lord Hawthorne

Runemaster Thorn

Tetherys

6x Descent the Altar of Despair Expansion (also Runebound Sands of Al-Kalim Expansion)

Aurim

Corbin

Eliam

Kirga

Sahla

Thalia (the Thief)

6x Descent the Tomb of Ice Expansion (also Runebound Frozen Wastes Expansion)

Arvel Worldwalker

Karnon

Laughin Buldar

Okaluk and Rakash

Shiver

Zyla

1x Descent The Seas of Blood Expansion (bonus Character)

Nara the Fang

3 x Descent/Runebound promo heroes

Jonas the Kind

Tobin Farslayer

Truthseer Kel

Thanks very much for that!

I presume then that now Drakon contains some of them, that there are no miniatures "unaccounted for" in Terrinoth?

Technically, there are also the six Runebound: Midnight figures which don't appear in Descent. That said, their Runebound cannonicity is questionable. If you do find you want then John, Fanboy 3 in Manchester has a copy of Midnight on the shelves last weekend.

Thanks Slev. I know they had a copy as I bought a copy of everything they had! gran_risa.gif

Yeah, I think Midnight is a little questionable, but I will be making characters using the box art and minis from Drakon. All I have to do is work out how to balance them!

Could any of these miniatures be used to one of these characters ?

These are some I have on my >to do list< for sculpting. But maybe I can find some miniatures already existing for some of them.

Check out Varikas the Dead and Ronan of the Wild for Death Knight and Hunter, but I'm not sure if they meet your expectancies.

Healer is more difficult...maybe Aurim or Landrec the Wise but I won't choose anyone of them.

Thank you Warlock, I found them and they fit perfect gran_risa.gif
