Discord based jedi war campaign

By TheShard, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

I'm wondering if anyone would be interested in a high starting xp game of padiwan just graduated to jedi who are forced into an epic conflict?

While i don't have the tone to gm full time I'm happy to sub in if a gm wants to play occasionally as a pc.

Im also thinking discord because they have a built in roller bot and we could if time zones allow... To set up live voice or text sessions.

I'd be interested in playing

Player or gm?

Player

I be cool with doing this. I'd like to be a player but I'd be willing to GM sometimes.

Emphasis on the sometimes. I don't think my GMing skills are all that up to snuff

Would love to try DMing/GMing for an online game. Been throwing around ideas for a IRL game, but all my friends either don't have time, or aren't into table top RPGs. So what I'd want to know is, how much time do you have to play? How mature are the players? What kind of game do you want to play (Fun/Serious/Character Developing/Dungeon Crawler/ etc)? You said you want to play a Jedi campaign, how flexible are you? How many players will there be? Where is your location compared to the players? For instance I'm a Canadian and I obviously live in Canada; thus my time zone might be different than yours.

I've still not had enough time to play or DM/GM a force user yet, so I'd need to reread the rules etc. Not that it's that difficult for anything else, heh. I personally would enjoy being the DM/GM, but of course there might be times I'm not available, such as the end of November when I'm going to Japan for 2 weeks, coming back mid December. Then January I've probably got school. That's not to say I don't have the ability to make time for gaming, because gaming is life.

Ok so I'm thinking a hybrid play by post game, with scheduled voice game days.

That way for the big battles it won't take forever, and in between we can post so we can keep the story going with more in-depth rp-ing.

I'm mature and am in a few games already.

I'm fairly flexible. I'm in EST.

I can do a choice day a week or biweekly and I'll be posting a few times a week in between. So I'll be a fairly active player.

So looks like you the GM of you want it.

You should download the discord app

And go here:

May the force be with you, always....

https://discord.gg/TmBHaN5

I'm looking for epic battles. So new jedi order or kotor would be cool.

I have a few concepts that could work in different games.

-Noghri ex vader commando turned monk reluctant fighter kinda charecter who is trying to make amends for past deeds.

-Gunslinger who has visions, a bit like jesse from the preacher comics

-Drall armorer/ S. Defender, Corellian green Jedi.

But i could create something new too.

I'd love to join. I'm super flexible. Currently at college in Utah so unless I have class or I'm working then I will be free. I like to think that I'm mature.

Id love to do a jar kai ataru jedi

Yeah, this sounds like an awesome idea. May look into an Ithorian Ascetic or a Chadra-Fan Sentry...

I'm probably calling either hermit/ascetic/ martial artist or s. Defender/something probably either ascetic or sage

I’d love to play. I have an idea for a Big Game Hunter or Armorer Chiss who lost the rest of his scouting team to renegade night sisters.

Any movement here? Maybe the first step would be to create a Discord server?

I'd be into this, mostly as a player. New to RPGing though. Only done one EoE episode in person. Would you be open to that? Also, what's the player limit? I see 6 players already; (1) TheShard, (2) Daeglan, (3) Stneu73, (4) OrionUnas, (5) Tweedledope, and (6) HadesHerald

I'll create a discord server, gm wanna pm me a name for it?

Awaiting invite when ever ya'll are ready

We planning a session zero?

So sorry guys, I've been pretty busy these days. Got oral surgery tomorrow (Tuesday the 14th) and planning my vacation at for the end of the month.

I'm curious, who'd rather just do a discord based game focusing on voice/webcams, or the hybrid text and VC only during combat. Did you want to stream to twitch, or just keep it private? Also, being a nerd I do have Armada, Imperial Assault, and X-Wing, but I don't have Legion(?). (Is that even out yet?) So, if we're thinking of battle maps, I can provide some stuff.

But once again, since I'm going on vacation soon I won't be able to start anything until I get back. We also need to choose a day, and since I work random hours/days, it may be round 9 pm my time, which could be as late as 12 am. However, I might be able to book a day.

Anyway, I'll leave that food for thought.

Edit:

Thinking KOTOR era, or somewhere in between. Or between Episode III and Rebels. Thoughts?

I think it should be voice with the ability to follow up through text.

Best of both worlds.

I'm in a game now that uses Discord for voice/video as well as Roll20 for maps and dice rolling. Maybe an idea. Of course, we could always maintain character sheets on SWSheets and use the D1-C3 bot in Discord. So long as we're not PBP, I think we'll be okay.

As for era, I think The Dark Times would be best solely since that's properly statted out in the books (vehicles, weapons, etc.).

When you say 9PM...what is "your time?" Also, is this planned as a weeknight game?

So I'm est can't do Tuesdays if it's a weekday i gotta be done early. Like by 930pm at the latest. I'm interested in njo with only rogue one original trilogy and the thrawn books ( or dark empire) as canon. That's my preference.

I'm strongly in favor of a hybrid system and no roll20.

Voice allows action to proceed quickly. Posting allows for things like this:

"Griff," Yorik said solemnly, "I'm deeply sorry for your loss. Words right now are little consolation to you. But just know that your memories of your friend will live on with you for the rest of your lifetime."

In an even softer voice he said, "I know this doesn't help lessen the guilt you feel right now but you should also know that you didn't fail. Insanire did this. Insanire and that Miraluka. Look at the carnage that took place here and realize just how many people, how many families, that madman tore apart with this vile and evil act."

"I give you my word that we will hunt down this monster and find him. And we will end his threat for once and for all.

"Return to your people so that you may honor your friend and return him to rest in peace. But, then know that if you wish, there will always be a warm welcome for you to rejoin us as we bring that monster to justice."

Returning to the Hind, Astrid catches Durrak in the passageway, on the way to her stateroom. Hey... That was pretty intense out there, earlier. So.. The Acolyte either hails from your homeworld, or knows enough to want you to believe that... We can debrief later, but if you can think of anything: local history, legends, cults... any information we might be able to use in this fight, would be most welcome. We already know more than we did, coming here... Anyway, I'm off to shower, while we're still hooked up.

Shedding herself of the varied accoutrements of her trade, Astrid strips down and steps into the shower. Not reflecting upon the events of the day, or the statue in the hold, or their next steps; just appreciating the fresh water coursing over her body, rinsing away the blood and the sour stench of sweat and fear. Yes. I'd take up dancing for a Hutt, just to enjoy amenities like this yacht has to offer, at the end of each day. Beats the sonics on that last junker Zando had me clunking around the Outer Rim in... Her smile fades, as she sees the face of the old woman, possessed of Kull. That one was on us. And I fired the first shot. We will not permit him to escape again.

Stepping from the shower, she towels herself off, and slips into a tunic and cropped trousers combo for the flight. Now about that statue... Astrid takes the time to buckle on her lancer. I might be in my comfies, but I'm not getting too comfy, 'til we're out of here.

Sliding down the ladder and heading aft, Astrid arrives at the hold to inspect the statue. Well hello there, again, Blue-eyes. What story do you have to tell me? Adjusting the lighting, and trying to ignore the noisome breathing of the nearby Acklay, she conducts a thorough inspection of the piece. Cross-referencing the details now in front of her with the notes on her datapad, she retreats to the holo in her room to consult the archaeological archives at her disposal.

Description Museum Worthy on statue for Zando
Results 3eA+1eP+2eB+3eD: 1 failure, 3 advantage [3eA=A, S, A/A] [1eP=A/A] [2eB=-, -] [3eD=F, Th, F/Th]

Archives are showing me no love... This has to be it? Frakking thing was labeled, unless I've been set up... Realizing the write-up on this piece was going to take significantly longer than she'd hoped, Astrid procrastinates digging deeper into the lore of the Sith relic. (can I use the 3 advantage to conduct further research (Knowledge:Lore) on the item while we're under way, or from a library? @April)

Frustrated, Astrid exits her quarters and heads for the lounge.

After a brief interlude, Yorik stepped out of his room wearing a simple lightweight beige cotton tunic shirt and matching pants with black slippers. It was the first time the others had seen him fully outside of his armor and unarmed and honestly, it had been a while since Yorik had been so free and unemcumbered.

"Well look at me! I'm practically naked. No HBR, no sidearm pistol, no force pike, no vibroknife, no backup vibroknife, no vibroknuckles, and not a single grenade."

Then, winking at his team before flexing toward the sky he said, "Fortunately, Durrak, I still have these guns and they're always loaded!"

"See? Even my jokes are killer!"

Yorik laughed and enjoyed the walk through the quaint village with the others. He basked happily in the sunlight and soaked up as much of the tranquility as he could and did his best to replace the still haunting & horrific memories in his mind. The ones that still lingered every time he closed his eyes of the path of blood in Flerbos mall... He focused intently on replacing them with the images of the stone lined path leading up to the village and the water mill of this area and he warmly greeted the smiling and waving faces of the local strangers with his own smiles and handwaves.

"Focus on the positive and release the negative. Just breathe and be water. Go with the flow..."

As you wish ma'am...

He forces the smile to stay, and gives her a wink, he takes another step towards her and in a low whisper:

Be careful passing judgement so easily, it's rarely a sign of wisdom. We've lived different lives you and I, I've crawled out of the nasty slop out of life, I've worked for my morality, I sacrificed, I've suffered to keep it... It's been earned, I'm alive because I don't always do as I'm asked, others are alive because I don't just do as I'm asked... I'm alive because I've broken rules with harsh penalties, but don't you dare accuse me of being the one to harm innocent people, frell if those even exist... My life would have been much easier if I was more open to the idea... So I'm not here to provocate, but I survive because I don't just assume what appears as something is that, so looks like we can both learn something today.

He walks away catching up to the group he waves, No hard feelings, have a good day!

Pompous, arnt they... Go ahead, bet your invading my privacy right now eh?

Those are some snippets, not even the best but are the reason despite it problems text has many advantages over voice for quality role playing.

I like roll20 for naps because i find it helpful to be able to see everyones positioning.

I like the Kotor or cline wars ers if you are gonna do jedi wars.

Thoughts on character gen? You said high xp. I assume knight level+.
