Another Interdictor build

By Cjhutchi, in Star Wars: Armada Fleet Builds

Evening all,

I'm a big fan on the Interdictor in canon, and I really like the model. But like a lot of people, I've really struggled to get it to work on the tabletop. So I'm on here looking for your help!

the main problem I have is the price of the ship vs it's impact on the game. It's great for disrupting your opponent, but struggles to make much of a direct impact as it is pretty weak offensively.

my Previous list involved pairing the Interdictor with a lot of black dice (Gladiators, Raiders) and that worked to an extent. So I'm going to try something similar but with squadrons instead. The plan is for the Interdictor to limit the speed of the opponent allowing the squadrons the chance to hit them over the course of several turns.

Slight tweak on account of the previous list being illegal!

I think I'm going to struggle dealing damage with the list, most of the heavy lifting is going to fall to the squadrons. I could try to pick off smaller enemy ships but I plan on keeping a tight fleet and swamping the biggest target, preferably the flagship, with everything I can.

I like the list, especially since its got two Quasers in it!

Im curious as to why you have a decimator in it though. Although i like that squadron, it doesnt get the benefit of sloane. For the sameish points id suggest Dengar or even just a jumpmaster. It'll get sloane benefit plus help your Squadrons move freely to take out your opponents Aces and Ships

Looks like only 1 Quasar to me, that said I agree on the Decimator and without Intel the Squads are going to get locked down. If the Squads get locked down for more than a turn or two the ships just don't have the pop to bring anything with any size down.

If you go for the intel idea, I would also suggest losing Rapid Launch Bays. The Quaser is quite fagile so keeping away from your opponents close range would be handy. If you replace it with boosted comms and and have an intel squadron, you should have no problem getting you squadrons in close to the enemy without risking your expensive big ships

Thanks for the feedback!

Definitely only one Quasar (2 would be nice, admittedly). I've flown the Decimator before and found it's both strong and tough. The main drawback is the speed, which would be negated with the Rapid Launch Bays. Must admit I was just liking the thought of dropping it slap bang in the middle of the rebels.

That said, the lack of Intel is going to be a problem, you're right, so swapping Decimator for Dengar seems legit and saves me a couple of points.

I do normally take Boosted Comms but this list is designed to try out a few things I've never used before, including Rapid Launch Bays. The Interdictor's Target Scrambler should alleviate some of the potential damage. Maybe.

I have experimented with Rapid Launch Bays in the past and I have never had much success with it. My problem is for it to be effective you have to get close and drop the squads in your opponents face. Doing that with a Quasar is very risky, the Quasar does not do well when you get in close. Squal does great giving your slower squadrons that little push they need and you can keep the Quasar at a safer range. I think RLB is probably better used on a low cost asset delivering high value Squads AFTER you have tied up all your opponents squads with your other squads, things like B-Wings, Firesprays, or TIE Defenders. Of course Defenders have so much range on their own it probably isn't necessary for them.

I definitely agree that the Quasar doesn't like being involved in a shoot out!

Also, granted, if I'm dropping the Decimator anyway I've already ditched the main reason for taking the RLB.

Redux;
