X-Streamer Imperial Assault Support

By kingargyle, in Imperial Assault Skirmish

This is mainly a question for those of you streaming and recording Imperial Assault skirmish games using OBS-Studio or X-Split. I have developed a tool for X-Wing streaming overlay support, that a couple of pod casts use, most notably Gold Squadron. It helps display the lists, update damage, etc. With tabletopadmiral adding support for the imperial assault data specification I created, I'm able to now add support for Imperial Assault. The question comes down to, what do you need and what would like to have in ways of an overlay. I have some basic stuff I'm planning to display.... Army and Command Cards, point costs for the deployment cards, health, speed, attack dice pool, and defense dice pool. You'll be able to edit if you want the health and mark figures as defeated. But is there anything else you want or need to have. The files will be generated as HTML files so you can use a Browser Source to display them.

I'm in the design and layout phase of these HTML files so now is the time to let me know what you need beyond what I mentioned above. I hope to have something for you to play with, and yes this will run under Windows, Mac, and Linux.

X-Streamer v0.7.0-M1 is available. This has the ability to Import squads from Tabletop Admiral, and update the properites, and view images for Deployment Cards and Command Cards. Next version will add the ability to generate the actual overlays.

This works on Windows, Mac, and Linux systems.

Here is a screen shot of the first cut at the overlay. Ignore the scores, I just used an existing X-Wing relate overlay, and added the new Imperial Assault overlay for player 1 and player 2. Debating on if the command cards are going to stay at the bottom all the time or if I'll put them in a seperate file that can be displayed when needed. The program does have the ability to display an actual command card or deployment card on the screen, it is just up to the person running the program to either export the image or window capture it.

X-Streamer now has the imperial assault overlay generator included. You need at least version 0.7.0-M2 or higher, and you must install a Java JDK 1.8 or higher.

Please follow the instructions in the release notes on how to access the Imperial Assault overlay support. The application defaults the X-Wing.

Here is what is working now for the Imperial Assault overlays.

1. Deployment and Command Card overlays for each army.

2. Ability to import armies from Tabletop Admiral for each player.

3. Ability to mark for each player when a Command Card has been discarded. This could be either that it was played by the player, discarded by their opponent, or discarded from their command deck to avoid taking damage.

4. The overlay for command cards will generate a red X next to the command card if it has been discarded giving a visual indicator that it is no longer available. If they redraw it (i.e. get Son of Skywalker back because of Leia) just toggle the discarded back to false and the red x goes away.

5. Deployment card stats like Health can be toggled. Haven't come up yet with a nice way to show a character is dead. Maybe skull and cross bones. You can also update the number of units so that as multiple figures in a deployment are killed you can decrease the number.

Version 0.7.0-M3 is now available.

Just finished adding a Skirmish Map Viewer and exporter to the IA Support. This will leverage the Half Res versions of the Imperial Assault Skirmish Map project. Should have this in the next version. I need to put a video tutorial together for this new version since lots has changed on the X-Wing side of things as well.
