X-Posse

By SpiderMana, in X-Wing Squad Lists

So, first local tournament coming up this weekend. This list crushed its first two games, but then my roommate pulled out a couple JumpMasters and crushed me (which obviously isn’t the same kind of scary now ?). I’ve only played vs said roommate pretty much, so I’d like some insight going into playing others.

(28) Jake Farrel: Outmaneuver & Daredevil (Test pilot and Chaardan)

(34) Snap: BB-8, Primed Thrusters, Outmaneuver, Integrated Astromech

(38) Wullffwarro: Jyn, Kanan, EI

The idea is to get Jake the free boost/BR from Jyn on Wullff, leaving him an action; Snap can get free Boost from his maneuver or has BB for the BR before, also leaving him an action, and Wullff can still reinforce and has an easier time destressing himself. If either of the first two can arc-dodge properly, they shut down a defense die. Originally I played it with Expose instead of Outmaneuver (the name was clever-er back then), but I figured I’d ditch that for the action economy and a couple points.

Against my roommate, I’ve generally lost Jake pretty quick, done some damage with Snap, and cleaned up with Wullff and his extra attack die. I’m considering going back to the Expose and ditching EI? Also going back to PTL instead of DD on Jake? Thoughts? I also had Lightning Reflexes on Wullff at one point, which was ideal for outmaneuvering in late-game cleanup...

That Jake build is not gonna hold up. His best build by far is VI/Intensity. It capitalizes on his pilot ability. Snap is respectable, but I'd go with VI instead, he likes higher PS. Wulfy is okay, Kanan is a nice choice. However, I'd advise Rey and Predator or Daredevil (Keeping Kanan in such a case). Honestly, my main concern here would be pushing damage through. Only Wulfy has real teeth.

What does your collection include?? As far as tourney strength I would give us a heads-up as to what we have to work with (just name the expansions, we know whats in there :) ).

That being said, expect to lose at your first tourney! Take what is fun for you, go in with the intention to have fun and maybe learn a few things, ans ask questions!!!! Most of us x-wingers are pretty friendly and helpful, even at a tourney. You are going to see opponents with exponentially more experience, so I recommend being that guy that everyone enjoys the table time with and seeing what you can learn. My last tourney, a guy who hadn't played in a few years showed up with 4 baby blues and got tabled by everyone and so had I. So we are playing the last match, both winless. My list was ok, but I had been flying poorly and he did catch me in the first pass. I was left with just Ryad vs. 3 B's and managed to solo his list from there and he lost it, I almost flew of the mat just to stop the match. Anyway, my point is keep it casual and enjoy yourself first!!

Oh, for sure. I may fly a version of this list just for kicks anyways, but I don’t really get tilted by much of anything ?

I’ve got one of most Rebel expansions (none of the huge) along with Scurrg/Slave I and a few TIEs. No K-Wing or Y-Wings yet as they’re in order from this last reprint, no Sabine’s TIE... and no T-65, but I could borrow my roommate’s from his core set.

So, suggestions I have are:

1) Try some x3 T-70 action, you will have a lil more firepower

2) This is a favorite of mine that can hold its own and is fairly forgiving and you can play with the upgrades plenty for personal play style

Falcon/A-Wings- Copy (100)

Green Squadron Pilot (24) - A-Wing - Push The Limit (3), Chardaan Refit (-2), A-Wing Test Pilot (0), Hull Upgrade (3), Wired (1)

Green Squadron Pilot (24) - A-Wing - Push The Limit (3), Chardaan Refit (-2), A-Wing Test Pilot (0), Hull Upgrade (3), Wired (1)

•Chewbacca (52) - YT-1300 - Expertise (4), Gunner (5), •Millennium Falcon (1)

- Autothrusters are good too if you expect turrets

- Snap Shot/Juke is another fun combo on the A's (one of each can work well, fly them together and use PTL boost to set a block right in front of the Snap A)

3) Adjust your upgrades some, as much as outmanuever seems awesome, you are typically better off with something that automodifies or gives extra actions ex: Predator, Expertise, PTL, Intensity...

I did fly 3x T70’s once; Chewie with a couple A-Wings was something I toyed with way back when, but I didn’t have as many upgrades to toy with so I might enjoy looking back at that.

I’ll look into some tweaks for my existing lists with everything in mind. I still greatly enjoy the concept of it, and if I’m destined to crash and burn anyways, I might as well go down having fun.

Okay, but now I've gone and messed with Expose on Wullffwarro... I'll might try this one vs my roommate tonight:

(45) Wullffwarro: Expose, Kyle Katarn, Gunner, EI

(55) Chewie: DTF, Kanan, Gunner, MF (HotR), Countermeasures

Wullffwarro can reinforce + EI/Expose for 4 base attack dice (5 once he's hurt). Chewie can pull a bit of damage without hurting himself too much (DTF), and since they're that close anyways, putting Kanan on him is the obvious choice, leaving a seat for Kyle so Wulff gets some modification for his dice. The MF title and Countermeasures make it an even 100 and give Chewie some extra maneuverability + sustain.

...Went great til I placed the dials opposite and flew them both off. Probably gonna bring it to the tourney.
