Help me build my 1st lists

By Spellscape, in Star Wars: Armada Fleet Builds

Hello

Yesterday I've got for myself and buddy

Core box

Interdictor

Liberty

MC30c

CR90

Arquitens Light Cruiser

and still unopened

Imperial Fighter Squardons II

Rebel Fighter Squadrons II

Imperial Light Carrier

Assault Frigate MK2

Can I build something more or less comparable for both sides?

I'm still new to game and haven't really played real game before.

Thank you for all help and advises.

quick question:

- have you played a game of armada before or are you completely new to the game with no experience at all?

Also do you want full 400pt lists or a learn to play type list (300pts)

Edited by DrakonLord

I'll surely even play "learn to play" scenarios from the brochure but in general I want to play full 400 but increasing from starter to full 400 gradually.

Well assuming your completely new you could run these 2 lists against each other, kearn how the ships work and how the game plays, then moving on to 400pt games with objectives and upgrades and all other fun stuff.

These lists are lliterally just get to know the game, shoot at each other lists, not the best.

Rebel (294/300)
===================
MC80 Star Cruiser (96 + 20)
+ General Dodonna (20)
MC30c Scout Frigate (69)
CR90 Corvette A (44)
5 x X-wing Squadron (13)

Imp (293/300)
===================
Interdictor Combat Refit (93)
Victory II-class Star Destroyer (85)
Arquitens-class Command Cruiser (59)
7 x Tie Fighter Squadron (8)

(P.s. im 100% sure someone will come along with a much nicer fleet soon enough lol)

Imp (300/400)
===================
Interdictor Suppression Refit (90 + 23)
+ Moff Jerjerrod (23)
Victory II-class Star Destroyer (85)
Arquitens-class Light Cruiser (54)
6 x Tie Fighter Squadron (8)

Sorry missed the imp admiral

I plan to make first ever game tomorrow.

I just searched internet for "most played"ships an got all I could find. So that's complete story of my starting purchase.

Thank you for your help

Im trying to build local community for Armada like I've done with X Wing

But for now my fleet building skills are nonexistent. I might learn game fine but list building is different skill

Hahaha ask me to build fleet for the rebels for 400point games when you have experience with the game and its often complicated interactions? Sure no problem, i love building fleets ^_^

Ask me to build a fleet for LTP? *shudders* hahaha

Fleet building is simple but time consuming, breaking it up into the steps i follow-

Step 1:

A) come up with a BASIC battle plan:

i.e. "i want to be playing imp big ships, so point ships forward and shoot" or "i gonna be playing rebel small ships, stay out of front arc"

B) add ships you want to fly

C) look at the ships (big/small, fast/slow, long range/ short range, etc) and choose a commander whoes effect looks useful to the fleet.

D) add some squadrons - a light screen or bomber wing to start.

E) add upgrades, think about their fleet interactions

F) either add more squadrons, change ships around, add upgrades or sit back, depending on points leftover and what you want your bid to be.

G) choose objectives

Step 2:

A) fly the fleet against an opponent of equal-ish skill.

B) win or lose, reflect on the fleet, what you loved/hated, what worked and what didnt

C) modify the fleet with those thoughts in mind

Step 3:

A) repeat step 2 till your fleet is "perfect" then...

B) start from step 1 again, rinse and repeat till you can put togethera list on a fleet builder knowing what works well and what doesnt

Its all about getting fleet experience in order to build fleets.

For example:

Step 1:

A) i want to play rebel MSU

B) 2CR90, 2 Neb-b, 1 mc30c (88+102+69=259pt)

C) mon mothma (30pt)

D) 2 A wings, 3Xwings (61pt)

E) both CR90s get TRC, both Neb-Bs get slaved turrets, mc30c gets foresight title, TRC, ACMs. (40pt)

F) total fleet cost = 390, decides thats good for a start

G) chooses 3 objectives (im too lazy to do so atm....)

Step 2:

A) plays and wins

B) didnt like the lack of squadron support

C) gets rid of a neb B to add squadrons and upgrades

Step 3:

A) replays the fleet

B) decides that next you want to run a rebel large ship fleet.... .

When I start putting together learning/intro games I try to give players fleets containing multiple varieties of ship. My personal favorite to teach with is....

Empire

VSD II

Arquittens class light cruiser

Rider II Corvette

3x TIE Fighter

2x TIE Bomber

1x TIE Advanced

Rebels

Assault Frigate MKII A

Nebula B Escort Refit

CR90 A

3xZ95

2x Y-wing

1x X-wing

This gives each player...

A front-arc focused ship

A side arc focused ship

One ship of each command value

Fighter squadrons

Bomber squadrons

Support squadron.

Also the three activations really help stress the activation choices that must be made in the actual game.

Thsee lists also detail:

Imperial fire superiority, higher hull preference, and specialist squadrons

Rebel maneuvering superiority, higher shield preference, and multipurpose squads

This is great advice, just wanted to remind you to be aware of your jargon when helping new players. They probably have no clue what APT, ACM and such are.

OP, another great tool I suggest here often is Fabs Armada Fleet generator. Quick Google search will give it to you. You can enter in all the boxes you have and simultaneously build a rebel and imperial fleet. When you are trying to build two fleets for a casual matchup, this tool is invaluable in making sure you have what you want to play.
