By Gualdo, in 1. AGoT General Discussion

Europe AGOT World is calling all of you to struggle!!! ;-)

The tournament will see 18 players fighting each other to conquer the first European AGOT OCTG2 title!!!

After 4 rounds of Swiss, Top 4 will compete against Top 4 USA tournament.

Top 4 European will do semifinals and finals to decide European Champion.

For each game players can decide to make single match or "Best of 3" (in both case victory will be 3 points for the winner).

At the end of the 4 rounds even players will be classified basing on their SOS (calculate automatically through the FFG tournament software we are using).

Westeros Bleeds

ENJOY!!!

Seems interesting;)

They are Twins :-)

This is very cool! I see that a lot of Italian players are going to take part in this tourney, which is nice.

Good luck and have fun!!

Italian Agot Comunity had the greatest (in number) national some years ago (more than 50 players). We had players in the top 10 World chart.

After rotation lots of people get lost... now we are restarting unluckly without game distribution, translation and external support for organized play...

but I'm optimistic :-) Now we planned a tour of six month and in october we will make a great team for Stalech :-)

Joe Strummer would say... The future is unwritten :-)

Lol, sorry :-) I change immediately the infos ;-)

Nice Strummer quote Gualdo. I was sad that they didn't continue an Italian edition, especially after Spain had such an obvious enjoyment with AGOT. It would be interesting to see if you can field multiple teams at Stahleck, say Northern, middle and Southern.

As an American, I'm a little unfamiliar with comparative country sizes in Europe (and we do lack a similarly effective rail system). What is the travel time from Rome to somewhere in the north, like Venice?

Also, I notice there's a complete absence of French players... this seems odd. Has anyone tried posting/inviting over on the French website?

Some months ago I contacted Spanish guys from Castelry Rock... I never found a french site... I'd like to be in contact with all of them organizing somenthing... In these months all my effort was to raise the game in italy... I contacted an historical player "Jaquen (was 10th in world ranking some years ago) and thx to him we contacted some older player and now the comunity is raising again (like Kraken :-))...

Speaking about italy :-) the travel from Rome to Milan is 6 hours by car (600km). In 2008 we had 2 teams in Stalech (both of them very competitive (we lost final against Austria due to a Baratheon Traitor that stole a Queen of Thorn :-)

Anyway I'm pretty new to the game (it is 10 months that I'm playing)... but I'm in love with it... and we hope this will be a long great adventure... and maybe our effort will put the game redestributed in our country... let's hope :-)

One last thing... in june/july I will be in California... (my dream would be GenCon but it is not so common to travel to Indiana with cheap filght :-( ) with some friends... maybe in San Francisco or Los Angeles I can meet someone and play a friendly intercontinental match :-)

Few questions:

1. I assume we use the same deck during the whole tournament, correct?

2. Regarding single match or best of 3:

Does the US side handle this the same way? (their post was a bit shorter than yours happy.gif )

Just wondering, because as far as I know the last tournament used a single match system, with a best of 3 possibility in case of connection/technical problems.

Jeko

Could I make the suggestion that we move these threads to the Meta forums? It avoids cluttering this forum, and really isn't any extra work for those of us participating.

It took some looking around but I did find: http://letronedeferjce.forumactif.com/forum.htm Perhaps you could have someone post there, sadly I have no skill with Romance languages. Hopefully some of them will join us for next time around.

As a comparison, in the state of California (3rd largest) it is 500 mi (800km) from San Francisco to Los Angeles.

Well, at the other end of the spectrum, I've played on and off since nearly the beginning with varying levels of interest/participation. I demo'd the game at it's release and started collecting cards a year later.

I don't think you'll have any problem finding someone to take you up on that, Gualdo. One of the best parts of this community is how willing they are to get together and meet up with people the know for no other reason than a shared interest in GRRM's work and this game. Just make sure you can give enough advanced warning. :) It is a pity your not coming in May/June as there are always AGOT events at KublaCon.

Take care, and onward to Westeros Bleeds!

Yes, same deck for whole the tournament. We'll not check and we'll not ask for card list cause we trust in our comunity. I already posted that each round will be or single game or "best of 3". Is up to the players decide. If there is not agreement the default is single match. During our last italian tournament online we found that people wants to play so everyone asked for best of 3. Anyway both victory for single match or best of 3 gives 3 points, so no problem about "how to hanfle the round".

In the other side tournament will be the same. top 4 calculated with same logic, software. We only added the fact to organize semifinals and finals to have also "European Champ". This will be done "outside" parallel tournament and will not delay the timing of this one.

Important thing: when you contact players for game speack about how to handle connection. I configured router to allow hosting games without hamachi. Someone else needs hamachi to make a connection. So prevent "dead time" organizing well "before the match".

Thx Luke for the french link... luckly "Je parle un peux de francais" so I'll contact them and hope to estabilish a friendship!

for Luke: I contacted them on their forum but they don't seem to me very entusiastic about the "project". They replied to me "French meta is different from USA one" but sincerely I don't know what does this sentence mean...

for Jeko, corrected BeneLux problem ;-)

Well, neither do I, especially since this was for the "European" half of the tournament experience. I don't know if they still play with pre-LCG cards though either. I will not say more for fear of smack talking. :) But you are to be commended for your outreach, perhpas they will change their mind at some point.

They are playing surely LCG cause the last championship was in that format... anyway maybe someone of them will join us in the future ;-)

Elooooooi (Spain) vs Spettro (Italy)

I won the first round using Baratheon treaty with the South against Spettro's Stark White Book deck. We've had a lot of fun playing together and the matches have been very exciting.

Hi !

I'm french ! I see your post in the french forum. Katagena said that the french players, who want to join the tournament, write to this forum ! gui%C3%B1o.gif

I want to play with all players. But i'm a newbie : i begin last month and i don't know all the rules and the format of the tournament.

I play only with LCG cards. What's about for this tournament ?

I'm interresting y your tournament, in april maybe.

iGogol, french player

P.S. : Sorry for my bad english spoken... lengua.gif

... Double post ...

Hi iGogol!!! Stay tuned on this forum... In april there should be another tournament... m ysuggestion is to write all contacts you find here and keep in touch with them... Lots of player (also italian) use OCTG2 to train theirself so it can be a good mean to make pratcize ;-)

WELCOME!!!

For eloiiiiii and other players: if possible could you please send me the score? "15-7" for example cause in this way we can calculate SoS (Strenght of Schedule) that will decide even players at the end of the pairings.

Ps: Spettro told me about a 15-8, 15-7 :-)
