Suggested Imperial builds for post-Faq? (any changes to build style?)

By Blail Blerg, in X-Wing

What do you recommend?

I was a Palp Aces junkie. I like big buckets of dice. I have two Upsilons. And most of everything else.

What's a good build against some known boogeymen. Like this Dengar Nym??

Dengar (33)
Veteran Instincts (1)
K4 Security Droid (3)
Glitterstim (2)
Countermeasures (3)
Punishing One (12)

Captain Nym (Scum) (30)
Veteran Instincts (1)
Twin Laser Turret (6)
Bomblet Generator (3)
Fire-Control System (2)
"Genius" (0)
Engine Upgrade (4)
Havoc (0)

Total: 100

Stupidly, this still has the highest PS in the game basically. Even out-PSes Vader, cuz Vader likely needs Intensity nowadays for efficiency.

until you include Roark garnet, you can't claim highest PS list in game.:P

Why are we afraid of this, exactly? There's no spike damage. Nym can't put bombs in ridiculous positions and his bump n' bomb game plan is gone. He's a worse Miranda we can pretty much ignore while we smash Dengar's face in. Gimme something like this:

Vader + VI + ATC + TIE/x1 + Harpoon + GC [35]
Quickdraw + VI + FCS + Harpoon + Pattern Analyzer + GC [38]
Omega Leader + Juke + Comms Relay [26]
99 points

We give Dengar initiative, take him out in two rounds and then hunt Nym down at our leisure.

They did leave TLTs alone and imps can use them now ......

Against that particular list and many similar ones: 3TIE/d defenders, 2 with ion, 1 with tractor, all with mkII

It my favorite metacapable list.

Dengar would definitely not die on 1 round, as you say. Which means he really gets around 3 attacks against you. Where you're using quite a few of your actions/mods to deliver your own attack. You're going to trade hard vs this.

That doesn't sound half bad actually. I do like me some 3 defenders. Lots of hull.

But, easy to get out played. The movement is tricky. Bumps are hoenstly in his favor. You lose 1/3 of your firepower while he gets turrets 100%.

I said two rounds, not one. We put the Harpoons into him one round, then hit him with primaries the next and we should be done. Probably lose an ace in the process, yes, but we'll have another one left and it moves after Nym so hunting him down should be easy.

Edited by DR4CO

What ace. You aint got room for anything other than Deltas?!?!

Oh never, i got it confused with the TieD list.

I've seen that list. Don't like it much. Feels like a gimmick pony. No EU on vader too. And no LWF on QD

Edited by Blail Blerg

Really.... how do you kill this list?!

in DR4CO's defense, the previous Alpha strike builds where missing the EU and LWF on Vader and QD and they have been doing well.

Alpha Strike is a good way of talking out Dengar and Nym

in Dr4co's defense, I have actually tried that buid. It does work... if you get it working from turn 1. I only ever worry about games against players better thna me though, so I assume the worst.

Are there any other Imperial suggestions?????

Need a list for today.... =(

So i really love tie bombers lately here are two solid lists.

4X Gamma Squadron Veteran — TIE Bomber19 with Crack Shot 1 / Extra Munitions 2 / Cruise Missiles 3 /Long-Range Scanners 0 (or chip)

or

5X Scimitar Squadron Pilot — TIE Bomber 16 /Unguided Rockets 2 / Lightweight Frame 2

So the idea with this that throwing massive dice at ether ship is going to remove one on the opening you have to practice and know the approach. Dengar will melt at the number of dice. What is nice is unless you get crit-ed your going to have all 4 bombers for the return fire. Nym would be the pick to remove first then Denger should be no problem as long as you force him to spread out damage.

2 intensity x7 defenders with stealth might work that’s 4 dice +2 tokens

26 points for taste

edit: Nu HLS once it’s out, Zeta Specialist, blocking TIE/ln pair, Outmaneuver or PTL Baron, tons of good options

Everytime I see x7 my brain thinks 7 defenders!!!!!!!!?????

Sure, but the list offers counterplay to that. Mkii opens up the dial, and if you fly the tractordefender behind the others, he can resolve bumps.

I would bring back my triple ace list since Jumpmaster nerf but I sense more TLT list or Virago on the futur so :

Soontir Fel (27)
Push the Limit (3)
Hull Upgrade (3)
Autothrusters (2)
Royal Guard TIE (0)

Carnor Jax (26)
Push the Limit (3)
Hull Upgrade (3)
Autothrusters (2)
Royal Guard TIE (0)

The Inquisitor (25)
Push the Limit (3)
Autothrusters (2)
TIE/v1 (1)

Total: 100

May be vulnerable to Sabine's bombs but I would give a try again since U-Boat is no more a torpedo carrier. Time to dance again !

Here is a list i've had fun with. Add thread-tracers if you not bother about a bid (a like to place rocks)

-----

PewPew (99)

•Colonel Vessery - TIE Defender

Expertise (4), Ion Cannon (3), TIE/D (0), Twin Ion Engine Mk. II (1)

Glaive Squadron Pilot

Expertise (4), Tractor Beam (1), TIE/D (0), Twin Ion Engine Mk. II (1)

Scimitar Squadron Pilot

Long-Range Scanners (0)

----

The scimitar is an effective blocker, as bombers don't have that bad a dial if you not planning on shooting or taking actions.

Coffee. On Screen.

I'm not sure yet, but I'm certainly more optimistic about the Silencer now, even if it still looks a tad overcosted.

It's in a similar slot to the TIE aggressor, it fills a role and a slot that Imperial didn't previously have filled.

More options isn't a bad thing.

Maybe I'm an idiot, but it just looks like a beefier arc-dodging ace. How is that any different from what Imperials are best at?

Because it's beefier (tech and systems), and eats a lot more points. It's basically Poe and Corrans love child.

This ship won't punish you for been caught like Mr.Fel.

This ship won't fit massively well with 3 Aces. But with a decimator, it should. Kinda like Poe/Dash.

Right, but how does that give it a role that hasn't already been filled by other aces in the past? Sure the new upgrades are nice, but it's still a high PS arc-dodger.

I'm not disagreeing with you, I just don't see how you can say it fills a previously empty role for Imperials.

Am guess, am classing it as a sub cat. As Beefy aces, i don't put Sontir in the same cat as Poe.

This is just how i lump them together.
