I wouldn't expect it to be used with both blades extended simultaneously

just with the option of one or the other, as needed. It's not really something that can be tested against existing weapons, because weaponas don't exist that can have weightless retractable blades...

Well that would make some sense. Though I would say its a gimick with limited use.

Rebels: Garik Loran, Voort "Piggy" SaBinring, Hohass "Runt" Ekwesh, Kell Tanier, Myn Donos, and Ton Phanin.

Scum: General Kargan, Capitan Seku, Lt. Dissek, Lt. Kettch, Qatya Nassin, and Morrt.

Empire: Thrawn, Ciena Rea, Vult Skerris, Iden Versio, Gar Saxon, and Captain Phasma.

Um.

In any event, in Ep 1 he was a barly bad-*** fighter with a cool ship. Not my fault they dumbed him down in The Clone Wars (and continued that in Rebels just so Obi-Wan could kill him again) just so they could sell a new action figure.

Not every Darth wants to be remembered for his nadir. (:P)

I actually disagree that Clone Wars or Rebels dumbed him down. In fact, I'd say they did way more to flush him out as a character than the movie did. Heck, some of my favorite Maul moments are in the cartoons.

Indeed, one of the best Rebel Episodes is "Twin Suns", because of him.

Well, I can't argue that he wasn't just a cookie-cutter cardboard character in Ep 1.

But c'mon, cut in half is dead. I have been watching Clone Wars, and have been dreading in Spider Maul stuff; just hit it last night. The character was OK in Rebels, but it's just franchise shenanigans at that point.

I want my Maul with a side of Darth, and then I want him perma-dead.

I guess more than anything I would like to see the Sith Infiltrator in the game, and Darth Maul is an obvious pilot. And, if this game can't have more than 3 factions, all Sith should probably be part of the Evil Empire.

I will not argue how he came back was crap, but for me, what they did with him after that makes up for it. I like the idea of a discarded Sith apprentice trying to grow a power base to take on his former master. Also, where his obsession with Kenobi led him. Then you have the effect of his return had on other characters like Kenobi, Palpatine, and the Ghost's crew, and for me, you have a winning use for a character.

oh, and Sam Witwer playing psychotic. I love hearing that man go psychotic.

Imperial: Thrawn, Gilad Pellaeon

Scum: Talon Karrde, Booster Terrik

Rebel: Ooryl Qyrgg, Gavin Darklighter

...you know what, let's just say "Anyone from the X-Wing series or Zahn novels who has ever piloted a ship or could reasonably fit as a crew/passenger on board a ship."

Wraith Squadron and Kettch, seconded!

You know, as much as I don't think we need more Rebel/Scum-only, I wouldn't mind seeing some Hawk-bats TIEs! (Also, Night Caller as an epic ship!)

Yeah they could sell it as a Rebel Scum only Epic expansion the Night Caller and put the Wraiths and Hawk-bats in there as well. With maybe a T-65B X-wing and maybe a Tie Interceptor with Hawk-bat colors as well.

Someday I want to try painting a bunch of X-Wings like the Rogues' were when they went independent!

Also, who would win in a dogfight between Wedge and Kettch?

Since Wedge would be fighting himself I would think Wedge would win....

Bring in K2SO as a crew member that adds a dorsal turret like ability to a large ship. U-wing only, 2 points.

Hmm. There have been some good minor characters on the journey.

  • Imperial: Thrawn (bad scale, I know)
  • Scum: Aphra
  • Rebels: Hey, let's throw a new EU character as opposed to the array of old I barely remember.. Evaan Varlaine

+1 for all of these!

Thrawn deserves a place in this game. Maybe there’ll be a third Imperial Epic ship soon, and that will be his chance.

The Ark Angel is an ugly ship, but it might bring some game balance because it would give Imperials access to some Scum stuff, and be only the second ship in the whole game that has both Imperial and Scum pilots! Also plenty of options for characters from the comics to add as crew members.

Evaan is a great character - Princess Leia comics were one of the best-written comics in the new Marvel-verse! And whatever pack she comes in could have a Princess Leia pilot card, a title that gives Y-Wings crew, and a new better Leia crew card!

She's also popped up in the Aftermath series by Wendig so she survives the main conflict with the Empire. No, I still don't recommend the series. The story is interesting, the characters are interesting enough... WRITING!!! Argh...

Addendum to my original list: As was noted earlier, Gilad Palleon - how'd I miss this guy?

Yep. Read the first Aftermath book. I thought the characters were cool, so I bought the other two. Tried to read the second - I could never finish it. I guess one book was about all I could take of his frantic writing style with all those stupid interludes between the chapters. It felt like the whole book was being written by a twelve-year-old who desperately had to pee but was trying to hold it in while writing.

Aphra works for Vader.

Worked. He did try to kill her, after all. She's Scum and Villainy.

Her comic is pretty awesome, and I'm not even really a fan of anti-heroes.

... Aren't those the episodes with lightsaber helicopters? Ugh.

Maul was much, much cooler as a silent, stalking, deadly tiger in the film. Sure, he died too quick and too easy, but hey ... Kenobi is a badass. In the cartoon, Maul just became a hissing Slytherin wannabe.

Didn't exist in the Clone Wars, where a reasonable portion of those moments exist. And even in Rebels, they only are shown with him in his first outing and he's not using them, so no foul on him.

Also, Maul personally kills two of the four users of helicopter lightsabers, effectively erasing helicopter-sabers from the universe.

Oh, right, he came back in Clone Wars, with the giant T. rex legs. Well, different strokes, but he just makes me wince.

Sorry to hear that, but to each their own.

I do kinda get what Jeff’s saying - they should’ve just left Maul dead. It would have been easy to have an entirely new character fill a similar role in Rebels and Clone Wars - an apprentice that Palpatine took on after Maul’s death but before Dooku, perhaps.

Well, if we are talking what really should have happened, then Maul shouldn't have died in Episode 1 and been in the Dooku role throughout the prequels.

Accepting that that mistake was made, I actually think it was better to go with Maul. We actually had some history with him, as did the other characters. The whole "the secret apprentice before X apprentice" can fall flat if improperly handled.

In the movies, even Dooku is a waste. They should have just let Maul live and let Anakin kill him.

OTOH, Dooku is a much better character in the the CW cartoon. Greivous is still a bit dumb, though.

I really liked the idea of all the new, Clone-Wars only characters. Anakin, Padme, and Obi-Wan were all pretty boring to me because we already know the end to all their stories.

As much as I disliked how powerful they were, Cad Bane and Ventress were better villains for that series, because we don’t know for sure what happens to them. Similarly, Ahsoka and Rex were good heroes. I like not knowing which characters are going to die at the end - my biggest gripe with a lot of Star Wars is the fact that so many things are foregone conclusions (it seems that 95% of Star Wars material is a “prequel” of some manner).

My other big gripe is that the same small cast of characters does everything. That’s why I’d like it if Maul had died and they’d given a brand new character some time in the spotlight.
