A thankful reply to Frank, Alex, & Max

By Cubanboy, in X-Wing

HI guys,

I was thinking about how much I love X-wing and I know its not perfect however it is the best table top game I think I have ever played, Settlers is a close 2nd but there are too many stories which revolve around it to tell. So in light of the excellent FAQ which was needed and solved a lot of card interactions, answered questions and provided a way for Rebels prior to K-wings get some balancing I personally would like to say thank you to Frank, Alex, & Max along with the Kids at FFG that do this as a labor of love. Without you three I dont think we would have a solid game. There is a lot of room to grow and be excited, again thank you guys for paving a way and keep making the game better. I really love my Guns for Hire ships even if I never play with them. The Red Star Viper looks amazing, my three year old and wife both love it.

From a fan and supporter :-)

Haven't got G4H yet (nor even seen it in person) - but will do soon! - and didn't think the Viper was going to be overly noteworthy from the previews this far...

... but yours isn't the first favourable review, so my expectations have raised somewhat!!

This is quite a good point: For all the games flaws in serious play, the game remains solid, interesting, and it's rare indeed that I don't find at least one or two really fascinating new rules in each wave. Well done, chaps!

This game has no flaws.

It has overused components and components that haven't been made yet.

That is all. All hail the Devs!!

I'm very pleased with the FAQ and very excited for Guns for Hire (which I can't get right away ... fingers crossed for Christmas). Echoing Cubanboy's thanks.

While I am grateful for their hard work and they deserve praise... these guys get paid (I assume!) and we pay for their products. A labour of love, in my opinion, is something like Heroes of the Aturi Cluster - where someone has done something just because they love it and then not sort recompense for the product (as far as I know).

I believe they published it under a creative commons license in order to avoid the mouse-hammer of justice.

I still love the game, except when I'm seeded against a boring list like quad TLTs.

I am always amused that people say you should find a job you love but in the next breath say that if you love your work you don't deserve to get paid for it.

GUNBOAT

I've certainly complained about the FFG staff on well more than one occasion, and some of it, in hindsight may still be able to stick to the wall a bit. However, with the new FAQ in mind and looking at all of the ships, existing and upcoming, I must say I'm very, very impressed with their work.

We players do focus on this game far more than the developers can, and we get to test it in the real world and we also get to see the very best bend and break everything they can for the attainment of plastic ship glory. We all know that the X-Wing designers also have lots of other games they work on. With that fact in mind dovetailed with the knowledge of the fun times we've had with this iconic game, I think we must all admit that they are, more often times than not, doing one great job!

Way to go Frank, Alex and Max!

The Starviper is **** good. I don’t think people will realize it yet. It took awhile for people to get the X/7. I think I’m about two months people will be flying them all over the place.
