For the record Blair decided on an Epic Ship as a prize for beating him with B wings at a regional.

I'm sad that there's no KC Regional this year, too. I'm not sure why you are, though, I've been to the last three, and never seen you...

Loved hearing the enthusiasm you all had for the team tournament. Logistics aside, it really is an excellent alternative format.

Did you check the salt mines?

My issues getting to regionals are well covered. Either way Game Cafe deserved that regional. It's the best store in the Region. At least I want to see the debate between it and Sparta. Also I would bet my rent payment that KC represents a plurality of the players in the entire region.

That being said @Biophysical I run Pawn and Pint's league every Tuesday in the River Market. Come down and have a beer. We can FINALLY play a game.

I was a huge fan.

I'm only in KC on a few holidays to visit family (and play X-wing). Tuesdays are rough from that perspective. Some day!

This was S&V's best episode in a while. Lots of different reasons.

(Seriously, Ricky, how many beers per episode? You can tell us.)

Can you list those? We're looking for feedback in general.

For the record that one was 3-4 tall boys during the show but I think I had 2 before. @Brunas gets me excited.

If the show requires me drinking I'll sacrifice my body for the Holonet.

Christopher? That's a name I haven't heard in a long time... a long time

Sure! These aren't in order.

* Listening to you get audibly drunker. Already covered that. Getting drunk vicariously isn't as fun as getting drunk, but hey.

* Chris Allen. I don't agree with him as often as I do, say, Lyle, but I enjoyed listening to him in an environment where he doesn't have to step on the necks of other people.

* Lyle and Blair (and sometimes Tyler). You guys have strong opinions that you express -- and usually support -- without crapping all over people who may -- for reasons ranging all over the place -- have differing expectations from X-Wing.

* Speaking of opinions, I like that y'all will give your honest opinions about the game and the devs' comments on it. Yes, Alex, Frank, and Max are undoubtedly really nice people. But those interview responses were terrible, from a player's perspective. Practically disrespectful. And y'all weren't afraid to express the annoyance we pretty much all felt.

* Frankly, with the exception of the idiotically reactionary AdvSLAM nerf, I just feel a little better about X-Wing, so y'all benefited from timing.

* It was a good length. (TWSS.)

* I generally just like all of your personalities, as they come over the 'cast. (This would include Bob, too.)

Thanks!

Ohhhh sure. Listen to you guys pat yourselves on the back about taking Soontir and B-wings to the evergreen cup. Oh you're sooo original.

Well we took an academy pilot dammit! And not a swarm, mind you, just the one! As filler. Filler!! How's that for hipster cred?

And what did you do? You one-shotted it you animal! Torped it right off the mat with goddamn triple Attanni U-boats! Shame on you.

;)

I'm only half way through the episode but I'm sure I'll have more snark wrapped appreciation later.

I'm becoming a convert to S&V podcast. I've been a fan and listener to the Mynocks for a while now, and of course the awesome guys over at Radio TCX. S&V podcast is now on my playlist. Well done with the interviews, guys! Keep up the good work!

I was thinking about Blair's idea of approaching Organized Play about changing some things in the tournament structure, and Chris's concern about coming off too aggressive, and I think it works if you do it the right way.

Instead of saying "we want to change formats" you say "we think this alternate format is really cool, can we do it at X official event?"

It seems like the company couldn't be put off at all by that approach, especially if there's an offer for the community to run it in some way. It's basically saying "let us do some of OP's work, you just keep providing cool prizes."

I really like the missions rule pack that Chris was talking about. The key difference and what seems to make them work within the current tournament system is that games end when one player gets to 100 vps.

I have been working on a terrain cards idea for X-wing that is based on the Legion system. Draw 3 cards then each player eliminates 1 card each, leaving the last card as the terrain the fight over. I wonder whether the objectives can also be done in the same way.

Yeah, this. Smart guys, balanced opinions, likable. You've been my podcast of choice ever since I've been playing (April 2014).

Fun episode.

Disagree about 100/6 though.

Its still a super fun format.

Every alternate format and casual 100/6 game has its own min max Meta.

Its just different which is refreshing but not necessarily "better".

Alternate formats are super fun to.

Competitive 100/6 is great.

Its all great.

Especially A-Wing Soccer.

Still a lot to love about a simple my ships vs your ships game though.

Here's the shownotes (I've asked Kelvan to update the first post)

I'll do it just to get my epic base/flight stand back from him! He can keep the ship. My poor space hoagie looks pathetic on a pogostick.

Unfortunately, I've never beaten Blair in any tournament that isn't a store tournament.

But I'll practice. Oh how I'll practice.

Also, thanks for the episode! Only a few pinches of salt for seasoning. Scrumptious.

I want to chime in and say that was an excellent episode of the podcast. You guys usually put on a good show but the way you expressed your thoughts this time really spoke to me.

Keep discussing builds like the Soontir/ Deci and how to make them work!

I also appreciated hearing your opinions on the dev interviews and where to go in the future.

So I was looking over the Objectives game doc discussed and posted in the show notes and was wondering if anyone knew the following:

  • Minefield Mapper is just effectively banned, right? The wording that it has "blank text for all objectives" is just kind of an odd choice to me.
  • Is it intended that lists are chosen prior to deciding upon the Objective for the game or after? Like, do people have to bring "all-arounder" lists for this game style, or do people choose an Objective, then break out a list that they have tailored to the Objective?

This is looking pretty cool and I'm going to see if I can get some of the guys at the league nights to try this out.

I disagree. Krayts on top
