I would think so. If the spell "shorts out" the "Worshippers" column (within a certain reason, I guess), then Investigators would no longer "suffer the penalties listed on each Being of Ib on this sheet" for one turn. Seems like a valid strategy to me.

I agree with jgt. The spell essentialy block the effects of the "Workshipper" cloumn for one turn, so as long it's active the penalitties linked to the being of Ib are negated.

Just so long as you don't cast it during final combat. The "upgrades" are an immediate, one-time deal.
