[Blog] "It's True. All of It" - FAQ 4.40

A New Hope indeed.
I agree about Biggs. The current implementation of Biggs mirrors what he used to be, when he was merely annoying. It used to be that he would protect ships on the merge, or come in a turn later to force split fire. He was usually good for 1.5 turns, because he'd get nuked down so fast. With Kanan, he started lasting a little longer, and when Lowhrick and Selflessness showed up was when Biggs really started to live a long time.
Historically, he was still useful when limited, and I expect him to still be strong.
I think the majority will agree with you.
The JM5K nerf is a too harsh, unless the P1 title gives the icons back. If it won't, then the expansion pack itself is stupid, since half the cards that come with it can't be used on the ship it's boxed in with. One fully kitted out Dengar is tough, but not unbeatable.
I am glad that the triple torp boats are gone, though.
Attanni nerf... I think the design intention with Mindlink was that it's a cheap EPT to help generics. Now it does that perfectly well. It's still a lot better than most of the other 1 pt EPTs around.
Bump-bombing Genius Nym was a butt ugly NPE gimmick, won't be missed either. Autoblaster turret + Accuracy corrector is still a pretty strong combo on a ship with barrel roll action. And bombs. And missiles. And Cad Bane.
FSR in its entirety was another disgusting NPE gimmick. Biggs now have a more thematic ability, he would be the perfect wingman for a rebel ace if he'd be a few points cheaper and/or maybe had an EPT. Maybe with the fabled T-65 Fix?

I think the lack of a real Miranda/Sabine/TLT nerf is glaring. An Adv. Sensors nerf would be nice too, but I suspect we'll have to endure Silencer Kylo for 9-18 months before we get that.
I'm with you on Biggs - it only really breaks the Kanan+Biggs style builds, otherwise he does 75% of what he did before and is still a bargain for the points you're paying for his ability (he just happens to be flying an obsolete ship). I had my fun with JumpMasters and Attanni so I'm fine with them being gone for a while.
Either way, nerfs tend to have a bigger psychological effect than their game effect, so I think a lot of players will either abandon the nerfed ships out of an exagerated assessment of their power reduction or simply use the nerf as encouragement to try something new.

This is a very real effect and I just don't understand it. People seem to knee-jerk away from stuff that's still fine.
With all the people dusting their Soontir's off I'm actually MORE likely to play Miranda than I was before, not less!
Edited by Stay On The LeaderI think a lot of players just aren't that good at assessing what makes pilots and abilities good and look to others for cues/guidance. It's herd behavior. There are different skill sets in this game and some people aren't interested in the squad building side of things, which is fine, it just puts them at a disadvantage when the meta is fluid.

Miranda did get a nerf with the change to Advanced Slam. The TLT does deserve a slight decrease in power as well - in my book I prefer to see the defender gain a range bonus against the range 3 attack...it would balance out the power of the range of the turret while not killing its usefulness completely.
Dude,
I agree with every point. Well said. But what gave me chills, CHILLS!, was your fan-theory of Luke flying a t-65 in TLJ. How freaking awesome would that be?!!!

Miranda gets access to basically all of the good mechanics in the game and they took away only one of her toys (and only sorta). She is 95% unaffected by this FAQ and still one of the best ships in the game.
Things Miranda can still do:
fire out of arc
regenerate health
add red dice
dodge arcs after most ships have moved
unblockable damage (bombs, autoblaster)
be blocked and not care
Sabine
action economy (various crew)
damage mitigation (various crew)
Anybody giving up on flying Miranda after this FAQ is being silly

Have yet to find a post by you I disagree with.

That's probably a good bet. As you know, I've been running Fel heavily for a few months, and infrquently ran into a counter because nobody took them, because Fel was dead. And I was prepared for the counters!
Was Bigs really so bad? Is he usable still?

Bad? Well, the worse part of his ability for me is that he took away your ability to choose; this for me is true, unadulterated NPE, players should be able to make choices in a game, always. For me his game-controlling ability is far worse than Kylo, FSR2, Palp, etc.
Yes, Biggs is still usable in most all of his current builds and didn't technically loose much of his power, as his lifespan is somewhere around 2 turns max anyway...save in his Kanan/Biggs and FSR2 squads where his meat shield system seems to last many rounds and sometimes to the end of a game even, so, those builds will suffer the most.

Powercreep has made Biggs into a nightmare for a lot of lists that can't pump out high alpha damage. Ego (Low/Miranda/Biggs) and FSR (Jess/Low/Rex/Biggs), and Kanan/Biggs are the main culprits. With those squads, you really need to throw 4 dice attacks at Biggs to do enough damage to not get behind the powercurve.
Biggs will still be good, but he will take way more careful flying. You can't just 1-bank your way to victory.
edit... ninja'd

Haha, you mustn't be looking hard enough - I come up with all sorts of nonsense!
