Predictions for the meta post FAQ

By Chippy118, in X-Wing

With many of the top builds receiving some sort of nerf to them, what will be the list that can come out of hiding and be seem on the table at a competitive level. Will fair ship rebels stick around without an all consuming Biggs in the center of the build? Will Nym still be such a menace without the ability to bump and bomb?

What are peoples thoughts and predictions, I'm interested to hear them.

Dengar Nym new meta, enjoy.

Dengar being strong I'm fine with, especially since he now has to substitute for triple torp boats. Nym also took a hit.

Interestingly enough, especially Nym can rather easily be affected by control effects when hit. So, if Dengar and Nym are going to try and rule the roost- does that herald a decline of a purely damage focused meta?

I'm not certain, but its possible- with rebel damage sponge builds being less effective, it's at least no longer needed to the same extent.

-Dangar without unhinged

-Nym without genius

We will probably see more Dash/Miranda.

Miranda Nym, Dash Miranda.

Neither of those lists have been hit particularly hard; Miranda just transitions into LRS and missiles instead of ALSAM and Cluster Mines, Nym loads up with discardable bombs and EM, they both truck on as before. They're still going to be huge.

Imperial high PS alpha is still perfectly intact.

I'm hoping that the major hits to action bombs mean we might see some low hull aces back.

Fairship and OPQ are still fairly OK. New Biggs will take some getting used to, and might be replaced with Jess in OPQ, but mostly they still work, they're just a little easier to approach.

The big, big hit is Contracted Scouts and Dengar. What the lasting impacts of those are, I'm not sure, but I suspect we see more low agility Rebels, more low hull aces, etc.

We'll see Assaj back, and we'll probably see more Ketsu.

It might even be possibel to make good use of Bomblet Deathrain (HERESY!).

I for one am looking forward to experimenting. New metas are fun, especially when a big shakeup is coming soon with wave twelveteen.

I expect a lot of Dash/Miranda and Nym/Miranda for Rebeles, Alpha and RACLo for Empire, and I'm at a complete loss for Scum (at first sight I can't see any obvious top list).

Scum Nym is still fine. It's tough to go wrong with a PS10 accuracy corrected TLT. The last few games I played with him I rarely even used my Bomblets, and almost never used Genius. Dengar is still extremely good, he's just not outright broken.

Dengar/Nym was, IMO at least, around same level as Dash/Miranda and Nym/Miranda, and it got hit significantly harder than either of them. I don't feel it's good enough anymore to match the top Rebel lists (doesn't mean it's bad through).

Dengar Nym was better than Dash Nym or Dash Miranda. Dengar's PS advantage and multiple torps were both huge.

Miranda's still by far and away the best ship in the game though :(

Dash/Miranda and Fair Ship Rebels both get away with a lot less damage done to them than I think people realise.

The metagame will change a lot around them, though, so whether they can adjust to the new metagame is another question.

I don't think she will be any more. With her losing her ability to slam and bomb as effectively by her taking experimental interface and having to stress herself to do it, it makes her less threatening and a decent alpha strike will wreak her day.

Fair Ship Rebels will be a lot weaker with Biggs nerf. Stronger builds could be made.

She just changes the clusters and ASLAM for LRS Harpoon and EM, and gives you a whole different reason not to come into her arc instead.

But with her limited to PS8, high pilot skilled arc dodgers can stay out of her arc and not have to worry about the auto damage from bombs. She is going to be countered by certain builds, which is the point of the nerf, and this will knock her off the throne of 'best ship in the game'

Welcome back to the nimble aces era again..

Quad TLT will be strong again

Dash + Nym or Miranda

RACLO + Ace

Dengar Nym (both with Engine)

I'm going to run Corran again! E wings FTW!!

My prediction is for RAC/Lo plus ace and Ps11 Imp Aces will be the best things for a while.

RAC w/ Kylo might, erm, make you regret that one.

FIVE. CARTEL. MARAUDERS.

Real talk I suspect 4 gunboats and an academy TIE to do very well. Some combination of ion cannon xg1s and harpoon missiles, all with LRS for 22 points each. THe new 4BZ.

My meta is going to be GUNBOATS and Frankenstein Attack Upsilons all day every day.

Dash/Miranda gets worse against its worst matchup, though (maneuverable ships higher than PS7). It's still strong and forgiving, so it will see a ton of play, but it's the kind of list a trip aces list feeds on.

I'm 100% excited for triple HLC Gunboats (maybe double HLC+ace). That alpha is nastier and more flexible than ordnance.

Especially with all the Vaksai trimmings.
