Fellow Biggs Players....

By Mackaywarrior, in X-Wing

When I first saw the FAQ I was like “well the T-65 is dead” and “they better fix it” but after some thought I think when the smoke clears we are going to be quite pleased.

and Biggs will still live on.

this fix will free up FFG to give the T-65 a fix and that fix may even bump Biggs a bit as well. I think at 26 points, Biggs will still do his job just fine. Afterall, with missiles and torpedoes around, opponents were already getting around him. R4-D6 helped prolong his death but in most cases he died in one round.

I see triple T-65s in our future, one being Biggs who will be the cheap T-65 version of Jess.

of course, that’s if we get a T-65 fix lol

I agree... it's not THAT bad actually.

Biggs could still be used on the very first interaction with the enemy fleet and the opponent has to split fire if he wants to destroy another ship even though he has attacked Biggs in round 1.

I almost think the Biggs strategy is to not declare him the first round of shooting. If your opponent targets him anyhow, mission accomplished. If your opponent doesn't target Biggs, you pop him the next round to split fire.

I bet it's a lot like going up against a Sicilian when death is on the line, with one poisoned cup between you.

Maybe, I’d love my iconic Luke, Wedge, Porkins squad to get a bump. But after listening to the developers, I think they’re looking forward to the new movies, ships and interactions and didn’t like how Biggs was still bending their abilities to work in new design space. They all but stated old ships, if uncompetitive, will stay that way; but steered towards new shineys.

Privateered XWM 2.0 is our only hope for the old classics.

So long, Norra Wexley.

Should they have removed the previous "nerf" to Biggs? (where you can supercede his ability by using TL weapons).

That is really the only problem I have with the change, otherwise it actually works out really well, I won't have to disengage to force the split fire.

That wasn't really a Biggs nerf, that just happened when they put out the timing chart.

He was not that common when his ability worked ever round, why do you expect to see hi. More not that he works once per game?

I think this will be the case. The threat of his ability is probably going to get him targeted anyways.

Two things...

As an Imperial player exclusively (at sanctioned events) I never minded Biggs. To me, he was an interesting but manageable challenge. The first time I had to deal with Fairship it was flown by Zack and my eyes glazed over as things fell apart on my end... but really Kanan Biggs and other variants just weren’t that bad. I was expecting TL to work always to bypass the effect, or Biggs to have to be closer...

but (second thing), this was much more vicious a nerf than I expected. Ouch. And I agree, the old TL caveat needs to be lifted.

Perhaps. I’m flying tonight with Poe, Wedge, and Biggs. The plan is to stay in formation until the first engagement, in which case I expect Biggs to be gone.

this is of course a funzies list but I just want a feel for the change.

I think they went way overboard with that nerf. I'll be honest, I've had a lot of fun and a fair bit of success with my take on Kaanan/Biggs, and this hammers that pretty hard (I can make Biggs die really slowly :P). I understand why, but I do think it's gone too far.

Oh well. Guess I'll have to either moan incessantly or adapt to the change...

But there's no immunity from Biggs, unlike the poison.

I don't think Biggs was OP. I just think it hog-tied the design team on a lot of things. For 26 points it is still a great ability.

Please. Norra + Shara + Jess won a System Open last year, and Lowie remains a thing.

The only problem Norra will have going forward is the same one she currently has: she isn't Miranda.

Just went over the FAQ, and my mind is still spinning a bit. I went from "oh, so they actually nerf him now, right?" to "holy ******* ****, once per GAME?" to "wait a second, the way it used to be, after that one round, he's usually dead anyway- and only got really annoying afterwards".

So, I'm not quite sure about it at the moment, but overall- I kind of like it? That's the kind of decision that's going to make you sweat, geez.

And oh, one more thing- now the ability is dead center as seen in the movie. Take from that what you will, but how's that for Rules As Intended?

I think we should just rename the game from Star Wars: X-wing Miniatures to something else.

Star Wars Starfighters?

But the real question is this; How long till FFG release a Mustache token as a tourney prize?

Right. But the Devs are basically ignoring W1-2 stuff going forward, so what design space are they looking to free up?

The nerf was very heavy handed. Thematic, yes. But heavy handed.

And still no nerf to the scum green moves/TL droid?

But... Jess is 26 points with IA as well. They're both the same price. At this point, Biggs' one round of protection isn't equal to Jess' actual contribution to the list. If Biggs had an EPT it would be a different story.
