Have you heard the tragedy of Darth Biggs?

That's almost a buff. It makes it easy to spread damage around when you can choose the attack Biggs tanks. Once per game was needed. Maybe they can actually fix the T-65 now. Also Rebels will hardly disappear because Biggs is nerfed (and if they do, then that's even more evidence that he was warping Rebel listbuilding, good riddance Biggs). Nymranda, Dash/Miranda, etc. Dash is freaking everywhere, I manage to play against him at every tournament I go to. I'm thankful I don't have to see Kanan/Biggs ever again.

Some people see a card that's practically an auto-include get nerfed to the point where you actually need to choose between him and other options, and assume that means that the card is completely dead and unplayable.

Too much of a nerf. Once per round would've been fine.

The Rebels will be represented on the field like the Imps have been this last year.

Because Nym Miranda was using Biggs already? :P

I think one thing to consider with the Biggs nerf it Thweek. A Biggs on the table with a StarViper stat-line is a little overpowered. Sure, it's circumstantial, but it may have been part of the decision to make it once per game instead of per round.

I was actually thinking outside of a squad like FSR, that Biggs hasn't been hurt that much. (FSR though is in trouble since the entire squad is built around Biggs taking almost everything every round.)

For example, last store champs season I made the final cut flying a fun list of Wedge, Luke, & Biggs, with the regen droids on Wedge and Luke. Its not a top tier list by any means obviously, and at first after the FAQ I thought well I can simply never fly it again since Biggs is done. Now though I'm thinking I hold Biggs in the back of the formation, with Luke in front, pretty much just like in the movie lol, and get Luke or Wedge to take a couple hits, then on a big deciding turn I trigger Biggs, he takes the hits, and Luke + Wedge then use the round to regen a bit back. The list might actually work better with Biggs this way, since before I wouldn't even get to use the regen droids until after Biggs was dead, so that is around half the match where the regen droids were useless.

I'm sure there are plenty of other lists with Biggs, that are actually more meta viable, that may see a similar benefit. He still disrupts target priority from the start. Do I kill Biggs now so he can't proc his ability later? Do I take the risk of getting other more valuable ships down to half health only for a full health Biggs to block all shots to them at a key moment? Even never using Biggs' ability in the game still has benefit, since the whole time your opponent is wondering when you're going to use it.

What if now Biggs works better with R2D2 for 29 points? He takes everything for 1 round, and regens back after he is no longer a high priority target and doesn't have to be shot. Just thinking out loud.

And with every round you mean for about 2 rounds, now cut down to ... well most likely still two rounds, because focusing down other targets first and keeping Biggs shooting is still risky ;-)
And FSR can work just fine without biggs at all, the core functionality is within Lowhhrick and Captain Rex.

But now opponents are free to vaporize Captain Rex on the first turn of combat, and don't even have to use target locked ordinance when doing so.

No, they are not free to do so, because Biggs triggers ;-)

More context in your quotes please :P

You are correct for FSR with Thane instead Biggs. In that case you you need to get past 3 Agi-dice with Focus + Evade + Evade and get shot in the face with a target lock+focus shot from Thane. In the worst case Rex has on top multiple focus tokens. In the current meta it is actually unlikely to get past agi 3 with two extra evade results and focus in just one round with all those two ship lists. Only Vader+QD have a decent chance to kill REX first turn in with cruise missiles. At least if you don't block their approach with your giant line of ships and slow rolling in until they could reach you with a 4 straight. And even in such a joust, you would lose Vader or Quickdraw just as likely to the concentrated fire of the remaining ships. Trading a TIE-Fighter against a 35 point ace seems worth it. ;-)

So I don't think that it is likely to lose Rex against anything that ain't a TIE-Swarm in the first combat turn, even in FSR list with Thane instead of Biggs.
