Hm. A pair of Vaksai Aces with 0pt Mindlinks could be kind of funny. Otherwise, Brobots, or two-ace lists.
Fenn, Dengar, and Thweek could be hilarious?

IMHO it should have been a condition card. But that will take 2nd edition which it may be high time.
Just waiting for the inevitable dial errata where they will take all the Jumpmaster's straights and make them white maneuvers.
Edited by MarinealverI've never messed around much with Attanni, but now I want to try it next session. I modified my Zuckuss/4-LOM/Palob list into Palob with two Gand Findsman and Attanni, so we'll see how it goes.

Anyway, the issue with the new Mindlink is that mindlink never was actually good in two ship lists. Even Dengaroo used PTL and Lone Wolf instead. And that was certainly not a list concerned with the stress mechanic from Mindlink. ;-)Now with the new restriction we are left basically with anything which can generate the focus token without taking an action, Guri, Palob for example AND is not suited for Push the limited/expertise/intensity or even just predator.
Mindlink is a 2 ept, 2 points upgrade which grants one extra action. Even without the stress drawback it would be hard to justify it over PTL on two ship lists, especially with so many good zero point EPTs these days. On three ships and more it starts to sing.
Agreed, but I still gotta find a reason to have two Jumps now, heh.

Two scouts for scouting ahead?
Let them bump them and clear with the other 50 points in your list the way. Might as well add tactical jammer and use some slow rolling in ships like M3a behind a wall of jumpmasters.

Perhaps, but I'm hoping to put something more exciting together. Plus, the thematic element of the old Dengaroo list is appealing, so recreating this in someway could be fun.
To be honest, I liked the mindlink + dengar + manaroo theme, but I never got warm with having TWO jumpmasters on the table, one with dengar and one with Manaroo. I would loved to have a Manaroo crew card doing something special on dengar with mindlink instead.

That would have been cool. Conversely, Putting Dengar on Manny pilot might have some opportunities, but not as good as the other way around (potentially).
There is always Lone Wolf N'Dru Z-95 with missles and crane to round out a link list. Can always toss in a Sunny as well. Not every ship needs mind link which is the point. It is still a good IPT.

Actually that is not pad. You can use the Punishing One title on Manny as well and add for a dash of irony some mindlink cruise missile guys
Dengar pilot would be naturally better, but hey theme lists are cool

Yeah, I was thinking about the Expertise/Dengar combo. Still really potent and frees up Manny's action to pass tokens to a wing man.
it's still kind of Expertise but at half the cost for two ept slots
if you're going to use the new jm5k, it's going to be as a bumpmaster right? So why not double down on its support role by giving it mindlink to enable a better ship?

The issue is that K4 is so much more useful to pass over not only a focus, but as well a target lock to enable the missile shots

I like it. Bonus points because a bumpmaster is annoying, but usually low priority - 9 HP and limited offense means it's tempting to ignore, but it'll be feeding Focus tokens and getting in the way the whole time you do so.
I foresee that Brotanni will be a thing. Its still great on them.
5 hours ago, darthlurker said:Would anyone mind if the mindlink nerf, instead of saying "limited to 2 per list" it said "limited to 2 per list, but expandable to 3 if all the ships equipping it are small based ships"? It avoids the obvious dominating lists and gives those fun Guri/Palob/3rd ship lists a bit more durability/punch.
Yeah, I would.
AM in the lore is a connection between two individuals, who are usually romantically linked.
It was kinda stupid as Star Wars Borgs in the first place. Not only is the card better for the meta with the nerf, but more accurate to the lore. For a change, gameplay = fluff.
Edited by Darth MeanieIts fine, I use 2 instead of 3 in my list now, the 3rd one actually only got limited use - maybe one turn or two at most and then he was gone. I replaced my Inaldra with a Z95 Cruise missile GChip - they still gotta focus on the Z95 less they want to feel the wrath of the cruise (: leaving my other 2 mindlink ships relatively safer!
I hadn't considered many of these options... thanks for the input, guys!
I love Brobots, and I can see how well they'd work on budget brobots (I'm always trying to figure out how to fit in a 3rd ship... a Z-95 or a cheapo Scyk). I never thought about that. And Guri, with the new titles for the StarViper, is definitely a strong candidate I hadn't considered.

For ordinance builds, probably. Otherwise, it will depend on the maneuverability of the other ship(s).
The silly change I'd have fun with would be that if you could run a "double-date": two independent Attanni pairs.
Say, a Palob (just Dorsal Turret) and a N'Dru (just Cruise + GC) pair, and then Vaksai Black Sun Ace (just Cruise + free stuff) and Guri (just autothrusters) pair. Each half would have someone who's able to get a truly free token from an enemy, and someone with a Cruise Missile. It'd probably be torture to come up with the right wording, but the principle being that if Vaksai or Guri got stress or focus, Palob and N'Dru would be unaffected.
It'd be fun, but I'm fine with such a thing not being in the game.

This is something I have been theorising on for a while...
... and using tokens to denote the pairs, which only pass focus/stress to the matching partner.
That way you can still have a mindlink themed list.
- - - -
Another alternative was "triggering on a Focus action " , and only permit passing a single Focus to one other ship with Attanni (if they don't already have one). With Stress also going to only one other unstressed ship with Attanni.
Sure, this would've allowed cherry-picking who gets the Focus vs Stress, but I think it wouldn't been a decent compromise.
(edit: though wording this adequately may have taken more words than would fit on a card)
Edited by ABXYI never took more then 2 any way
This changes nothing for me
It's not what I would have done with it, and it disappoints me that a whole mess of perfectly balanced EPT generics no longer have any good options and return to being binder fodder, but it's still usable. Guri, Palob, Genesis, Inaldra, Manaroo, Fenn... there are plenty of good places for it, and Palob/Guri in particular is a very nice combo with it.
I'm sad for the loss, but it's a small price to pay.
I think it's quite weak in 2s(Attani's value increases the more you have, 3 was the sweet spot between having valuable ships and getting enough out of attani not to use other action economy EPTs instead).
It was never a problem in a 4+ context and basically shut out potentially interesting builds with it.
Well...there's no need to write a 2 ships list for AM. In fact, if you lose one ship you basically lose all the EPTs...so I was thinking about the old fennaroo.
Manaroo w/AM
Fen w/AM
Old Teroch W/PTL
Manaroo boost Fen with her Focus, AND Teroch with her ability. Teroch wants to be in range 1 so he get more value for the Boost+B-roll thanks to PTL.
Then Manaroo at R1 now works as a blocker. She will always near to Teroch.
Fen is the jackofalltrades, the flanker, the indipendent one. He gets the focus from Minlink.
3 ships with action economy, with only 2 mindlinked ships. You can swap AM and PTL from the Protectorates if you wish.
And both Slam and Nyms were nerfed, so maybe Protectorates will turn in?
PS: now that the Jumpmaster cannot upgrade astromechs, K4 is no more near-to-be-mandatory. Hey, a titled Manaroo w/mindlink+dengar crew can be a thing now. Pass the focus, get the focus, 3 native red dices with focus+rerolls. Sounds nice. A support ship with a pretty good punch!
