Fairship rebels 2, Biggs is dead (a case for Tarn Mison)

By ficklegreendice, in X-Wing

Hey guys,

I must admit I'm not entirely familiar with the fairship archetype as I've thankfully never had to run into it (only variants which were just Biggs, Low and Regen, which I have played with Norra)

but with Biggs dead, it seems like there's a great opportunity for Tarn Mison to finally have a home. I've always had a soft spot for the plucky X-wing that could, so I've been wanting to use him competitively for a while. I think fairships is the perfect place for that because he fits the archetype of "ships you don't want to shoot at and low **** you if you shoot at him anyway". The trick with Tarn is to m9-g8 a (non-Jess) buddy (Low) to increase their offense when your opponent ignores Tarn, and then to use m9-g8's ability to screw your opponent over if they do target him.

the only thing I'm a little not a fan of is I can't fit c3po on Low, but you couldn't do that with Biggs anyway

point is, this is something you can try out if you're worried you'll never see x-wings again

happy hunting!

I have been running Tarn over Biggs for a year. Bring on the Tarn Meta!!

I think people are pronouncing the death of Biggs prematurely. He's not going to be an ongoing threat, but he can still severely disrupt your plans.

@ficklegreendice, I would think you of all people know that the nerf doesn’t kill Biggs necessarily! He’s doing his job of splitting fire almost as effectively. Most of the time killing Biggs first is still likely the correct choice on the opponent’s part. Although the nerf plus a heavy harpoon missile presence in the meta might be enough to make Biggs go away for a while.

I did LOVE running M9-G8 Tarn with Norra back in the day casually, and now that he’s not just “26 points that could be Biggs” i might try him out again.
