We're all fine here, how are you?

I know you and I have talked about this before, but the adding a straight-up 2 red dice to side arc attacks presents extreme possible balance problems for Rebel ships in a world where Ackbar exists (even though I grant he is expensive). It is going to really constrain Rebel ship design space as one of the first questions posed is always going to be "does Ackbar break this like crazy?" I would've much preferred a less expensive cost and some kind of side arcs reroll ability so it scaled more or less to the ship (being better on more expensive ships with larger batteries).

More immediately relevant to the topic, I don't think Ackbar is worthy of a nerf or errata but I can see FFG eventually giving him one when they're tired of having to always consider whether Ackbar and some new ship they came up with would break the game or not (or God forbid they misfire and Ackbar spamming new "cheapo Rebel red dice side arcs ship" becomes the new meta). I can't think of any other commander that would merit even half as much design-space concern and that just has to be tiring, one would think. Right?

I really like the re-roll ability better. Can you imagine if they gave an Imperial Leader 2 Red dice out the front arc?!!

Could it be possible that a nerf could be limited to one shot a round? Or he take away completely the front/rear arcs. FFG has made me nervous with their nerfs, they seem to go WAY overboard, at least in X-Wing.

Well to use Ackbar you HAVE to give up your front arc shots. The best way to get the best use out of him is by Ackbar slashing with him; if you start by conga lining and then dive in between ships it can be gruesome to see what's left alive or not.

I know, IF you use his ability. I mean a possible nerf that with him as admiral you have no front/rear shot. I have had many games where a rebel ship only gets one shot on me due to Ackbar.

Well I mean that or Gunnery Teams, anyways. The problem is Gunnery Teams with Assault Frigates (sometimes Scout MC30s?) is the easiest way to apply Ackbar but it also tends to produce boring/predictable conga line fleets. It seems sad given that canonically, the Ackbar Slash* was a ballsy high-risk high-reward maneuver. I've seen it work in Armada (often you using it) from time to time, but it's usually a suicide mission if you're not careful or lucky with it.

Not enough Sammy Hagar singing about being on a one way ticket to midnight, that's why they're not lucky enough with it haha.

I think you just did the forum equivalent of shooting the comms and saying "Boring conversation anyways."

I don't think so, as MC30s would be caught in the blast radius if you disallowed his effect on small-based ships. Plus I don't think he's particularly busted on CR90s, either. Basically he's okay-ish now but he presents potential problems for future releases. Can you imagine FFG giving Rebels something like an Arquitens? With Ackbar around, I sure can't.

I could see them making more ships like the MC75, where it has a very strong front arc and decent sides, and then you can pick if you want Ackbar and lose the front arc. You end up paying for this nice well rounded ship for the side arcs.
