Soooo...new FAQ breaks the Punishing One retail kit?

By xanderf, in X-Wing

Which is odd, as FFG usually includes FAQ updates to cards when they reprint them.

So when they reprint the Jumpmaster...what are they going to do with half the cards in it?

Soooo...that kit cannot use the included cards:

  • Plasma torpedoes
  • R5-P8
  • Overclocked R4
  • Guidance Chimps

gonks a crew

... Nothing, I suppose..? They'll still be there. I'd rather they adjust the title to a higher cost and reinclude the slots through that.

Yeah, the 'leaked FAQ' had the title add the slots back, which made sense for thematic reasons, and honestly didn't really feel that OP.

I expect a revised FAQ in the coming hours/days that places at least the Salvaged Astromech onto the title.

Cant use overclocked either

They CAN use guidance chips, they just shouldn’t.

I'd agree with that revised fix because I don't think putting the Salvaged Astromech back onto the JM5K via Punishing One breaks anything.

Well now, yeah..

Come on, it doesn't break it. It just provides extra cards. It would be broken if it required cards not provided. You know like the TIE Interceptor and the Stealth upgrade. :D

Good

honestly, at this point the jm5k really deserves to have different contents and hard erratas to the pilot cards themselves

swap out the useless cards for APLs, Ion projectors and intel agents (keep the errated mindlink with the restriction printed on the card)

basically a bigger version of the reprinted Heavy Scyk title

better than just having old Dengar come back with torps and chips and unhinged

They could or more like SHOULD have give one torp and astromech slot from Tittle! It would be lore-wise correct also and would have saved them from **** storm!

I really cannot think of any other cases where an X-Wing expansion pack included cards in it that you literally cannot use with only copies of that expansion. I suppose you could argue that you have to have at least one of the core sets to play, so theoretically plasma torpedoes and guidance chimps are still 'usable' to you, on the T-65 or T-70 you would have. But either way, the salvaged astromechs are completely useless without yet another purchase.

Not a ridiculous assumption, of course, but not one that FFG has made before for X-Wing (IIRC).

Hey, maybe That's what is in SWX71. A new Jumpmaster reprint.

You said the expansion was broken, I disagree with that. For the record I don't disagree and never said that it doesn't come with cards that cannot be used for this ship. But that cards can be used on other ships. But the ship is the primary reason for the expansion so, again, it isn't broken.

At least from my point of view when you say the expansion is broken what means, or at the least implies, that the expansion cannot be used or at the very least used for it's primary purpose. It comes with a fully playable ship and cards that, while not usable on this ship, are usable on other ships. No broken at all, just not as optimal packaging as you would like.

By your reasoning if you simple give your cards away the expansion is perfect and no longer broken. Me, I'd prefer stealth to have been shipped with TIE Interceptors and absolutely not with the Star Viper. But, like you, that my opinion of optimal packaging. But the TIE, like the Jump Master is still playable, i.e. Not broken.

[Edit: I think it was the AT that came with Star Vipers; sorry for the mistake]

The Netrunner 2.0 Core set uses decks that aren't tourny legal. They aren't going to change the contents.

They can just put a torp and astro on the title. Problem solved.

This makes tons of sense and wouldn't break anything.

That's what a lot of people are talking about in another thread. They didn't FAQ the existing title to do that. :)

Or not on it at all, because the undercosted ship doesn’t need the extra upgrade slots

But dengar with the punishing one title is 45 points making it the second most expensive pilot after han solo an rear admeral chiraneau so the base ship is undercosted but with the title, it is a fairly costed ship.

I did like a previous sugestion that all jumpmaster 5000 pilot increase in points by 2 while decreasing the title by 2 and keep the torpedoes and salvaged astromech to the title.

And also remove the ept from the scout because it really doesn't need it.

They could have also faq'd the tilte so you can only take unique salvaged astromechs like the havoc title. This allows dengar to take his droid, but remove the unhinged astromech combo.
