JM5K Nerf: Thoughts?

No torps, no Astromech. That hurts.

And no way to get them, either - thought the rumored FAQ also included a change to the 'Punishing One' title to add the slots back.

As it is, the Jumpmaster expansion now ships with cards it cannot use , which...I mean...huh?

They have to fix the title. They always do this. FAQ 4.4 will be followed by 4.4.1 in a few days.

JM5Ks never bothered me. I know they warped the meta for a time, but ****, they really, really don't want to change point costs.

I still find it unlikely they’ll fix the title. Taking away the options for the Jumpmaster makes up for its ridiculously low cost.

A ship nerf was inevitable. They kept doing half-measure nerfs to the various upgrades that would show up.

But this was a bit too heavy handed. Losing both torps and the Astromech slot was overkill, especially if the title doesn't add them back in.

Torp removal good. Droid removal sub-optimal, but whatevs.

I don't like that the Jumpmaster did as much damage as it did. Requiring the title to do damage is good.

However, a non-title Jump as a support ship or blocker seems fine. To that end, I wish it kept the droid.

They just posted the article and clearly stated that no JM5K pilots, including Dengar, can use the nerfed slots. Whoa.

Tels going to miss Painbot, but its for the better

The only thing that I disagree with is not letting it have the astro back when taking the title, and that more for lore reasons. They're finally goddamn dead, I hope FFG learned its lesson.

hey, I'll take it

you still get bumpmasters and cad bane shenanigans, but the things that made them absolutely ****** are gone (mindlink and ordnance)

dengar will probably still be a problem, but without an alpha strike he will be far less obnoxious

EDIT: wait a tic, who's going to use the painbot when it comes in the same box?

that's going to be a problem

I think its cute that R5-P8 comes with a ship that cant use it.

real nice FFG.
Whats next? ban engine upgrade in large ships?

Bumpmaster with sloop 'n poop chutes and Dengar with Expertise, K4, Title, CounterMeasures and Scavenger Crane will probably be the most used JM5Ks now.

If I could like this multiple times, I would.

Very, very happy about this. The king is dead, long live the game! I like the shuttle nerf to Nym as well making Genius a lot less potent. With that and the K-wing nerf maybe aces will one day return?

And the fact that toilet bowl ship that almost no one recognizes is no longer the defining power of the meta that all must bring we can hopefully get some normal beloved and old-school ships back on the board.

Also the Nerf to Biggs was way harder. Only once per game now? Definitely don't build a team around that anymore. So they fixed two and a half of the three most broken powerful squads out there. Let's see the new meta!

yes please

edit: or errata - small base ships MAY use the 2 bank/forward template, large bases must use the 1 bank/forward template.

eh, Dengar is still probably amazing just not as stupid

K4 is less good, but it's still absolutely just fine. And now without torps + chips, you can just slap EU on him to course correct after k4. Expertise has not been changed.

Biggs nerf probably shunts off Fair Ships, but if you just change the composition to Low + Biggs + Regen it's actually not that bad. You just always spot the regen ship, as shooting Low is almost never a great idea

It will be hard to explain to a new player that is new ship is sold with upgrade it cannot use. I'm all ok for a Jumpmaster nerf, but a least let the Punishing One take the astro.

I'd love to see a points cost adjustment for Small/Large ships (3/6 pts?), but you know FFG and points costs...

One downside is that the Jumpmaster ship now comes packaged with cards it can't use.

In 6 month's time:

Quad Jumpmasters with Trick Shot top 8 at at least three regionals.

Still a bumpmaster, still a sloop & poop annoyance. Definitely no longer a shadow of what they were.

I'd have liked to see them change large-ship boosting so that you place the template outside of the manueuver guide on the opposite side of the boost. If you boost left, you place the template on the along the guide on the right hand side of the ship. It would just cut the distance the ship is able to move on banks while still giving them some additional speed.

As someone said, it's bad that the droid is out for lore reasons, but otherwise fine.

I'd much rather they adjust the cost (or re-add torp+droid with the title at a significantly higher cost) but, wth. I'll take it.

I think FFG needs to just call it on this and pull it from sale, rework the ship/cards. This is what the 4th? Nerf it’s had. That’s a sign that you need to call it a day and establish time of death.

Then resurrect it as a better balanced ship.

Without the torp or astromech slot coming back with the title, this is the first time I can recall that we have an expansion, with cards in it, that do not work with anything in the box.

I think thematically they missed something with Dengar not being able to equip the painbot.
